So How Good Is Your Site REALLY

OK, built a website, created a logo, added content (so far 10 articles 500+ words each), 3 longtail keywords in each article, mentioned around twice in each article (different KWs for each article), in bold text.
Made a youtube video and placed it on-site.
created a twitter account, didnt get many followers on it yet
So far I have 10 articles and 30 keywords mentioned..
I am going to let it rest for a week, and then start adding more content using the same keywords, slowly, ofcourse all articles are unique....
Site has pretty clean looking design (premium WP theme)

Now i'll have to start link building, I want it to be very whitehat and very natural looking,
Do you know a service that offers slow-link-building for my website? that doesn't 'deliver' in 1 week, because blasting links in one week requires you to keep the same rate of blasts and I dont want that. - Affordable price would be best :)

Thanks for this post

Thanks scritty for this very informative post. This is confirming my thoughs and the general wisdom on the subject.

Your own is definitely best. Nuke, or Demon.
There are some slow and steadies out there. Backlink Banzai is one, Great for new and smallish sites - so might be worth 90 days sub of this. For larger sites/more compeitive niches... it is a little underpowered. But might fit your current needs till say March very well.

(nothing to do with me BTW) :)

Excellent read.

People simply just don't take responsibility for their own mistakes or missteps. As soon as a person takes responsibility they can get better, in every aspect of life.

I have screwed over web sites, some I don't recover, mostly because I don't want to put in the work, I know how I've screwed myself haha.

very very helpful :-)

It could do with an update to reflect the changes in Panda that seem to have occured. The way social noise is being filtered (badly) as "good" or "bad" by the search engines and the way that, by following proper syndication rules, copied content can be fine (in the right quantity and under the right circumstances).

Finally, the slow death that the effect of Page rank is having. August 2015 marks the end of PR as far as Google is concerned as the Stanford held patent on the algorithm (it isn't Googles patent - it's Stanfords) lapses and under US law academic patents are not permitted to be extended beyond the stadard 25 years unless doing so would pose a risk to national security.

Already we are seeing that the (until very recently...late 2012 as recently as that...the HUGE) benefit to serps that d0follow links conveyed is being steadily equalized or dimished.
How you view this depends on how you view your "half full or half empty glass" I suppose.
As a result of this, and the fact that the percentage of sites that offers d0follow links is plummeting month by month - this "rel" tag is providing a less and less statistically accurate measure of a sites value or success. It will be gone soon.
In the macro world of automated SERPS algorithms the increasingly tiny number of sites that offer "do" oubound links - just as a matter of course - is making the whole process of attributing value to them a nonsense in the medium and long term.

In short: What would be the point is measuring "do" against "no" when 99.9% of sites are "no" and only by a fluke of your niche or deliberate self promotion could you get a "do" link?...
None - that's how much.
Add to that the fact that in 2 years they lose the patent to exclusive use of it.. In the light of these facts Googles seemingly obvious and quite measurable decision to reduce reliance on Pr as a metric of authority seems just common sense.

@Scritty - did you ever do a follow up on this? I'm working my way through your various posts to find out why a few of my sites are getting penalised. Going to ensure the factors you mentioned here are all perfect.

Can you elaborate a little about over optimised meta titles and if they have an impact?

@Scritty - that would be great!

Also - "Can you elaborate a little about over optimised meta titles and if they have an impact?" - should we still have a keyword in the meta title or is it totally ignored nowadays?

In the header section of the site there was often keyword spam in "Title:" "Description" META groups.

so it might be "widget, widget discount, best widget offer, widget advice, widget warehouse"

Let's say widgets were what people think of today, addons for operating systems like "android" little apps that run along side your main programs. ( Widgets are also used in industry and manufacture and mean something quite different there - so lets stick to what most people know)

Ok a better set of META keywords might be

widget,android apps,add functionality,ice cream sandwich,key lime pie,IOS,snow leopard,widgets for your mobile device,

Not a brilliant example perhaps, but the main word is mentionewd twice. Once on it's own and once in a compound (I've found that's about right) then other associated phrases are added that do two things

1) Amplify the meaning of widget
2) Broaden the scope a "little"

These two seem like contrasting aims, but it's quite easy to do - just pick 4 or 5 words or phrases that explain what a widget is and another 4 or 5 that broaden the topic and show it's relationship to other "parent" niches (in this case mobile device operating systems and applications)

Your content should then have "Widget" in the title and mentioned again in the first paragraph. Have more than one post on your site so you can internally link from one post to the other with the anchor text "widget", put "Widget" in one H1 tag on the main landing page and in total to a 2% of all on page words (one word in 50 - or every 4 or 5 sentences dependoing on how you write)

An image with "widget in the description and ALT tag" so something like "A picture of a widget yesterday" as a description and "Image of widget 222B" as an ALT

It's not hard. It's really not :)
