Buying High PR Domain issue that has not been addressed yet.

I see countless threads on BHW telling how to check fake pagerank and other ways to do it etc.

I wanted to know that when you are looking for High PR domain on GoDaddy auctions how can you then check its PR since it has been parked on GoDaddy's landing page?

What I mean to say is that there are many domains which seem legit but since they have been expired or so and when you use the "info:domain.com" operator on them you do see the the same domain come up but that is only due to the fact that after being expired it is parked on GoDaddy's free landing page. Hence google shows the same domain when you use the info: operator. Once you buy the website and setup content after a week or two when you use the info: operator again you MAY see that it has been redirected to another Real High PR wesbite or you may get lucky and have real PR. I guess the only way to check these godaddy website would be then to check the backlinks and see how strong the backlinks are and if they would stick in the long run or not.. but the info: fails here! :damnit1:

So in this case especially godaddy's you cannot judge it via info: oper. Are my deductions accurate or am i missing something? Please feel free to let me know and anyone else who might have seen this issue. and how to overcome this..

The PR is not a good indicator when buying a domain in godaddy... just check the PA, DA,backlinks and see how strong they are,if they look natural or spammy... probably after u confirm this, and bought the domain is the next PR update you will the real PR that your domain has.

I think you didn't get what I was actually trying to say. Sorry for my language.

I am trying to tell about the issue one faces due to this, which is that even if the site has a good authority lets say Pr5 and good DA PA 30+ etc.. still ur not able to use info: operator. When you buy the domain and after setting the site up and a week passes then you try info: again only to see that its not indexed/different domain shows up.. why? because:

1) it had been blacklisted.
2) it is being redirected to another higher PR 5 site.. and your site actually has only PR 3.

Now what?

Even the the backlink checkers won't tell you that its blacklisted or redirected.. why? Because before it is BOUGHT it shows same domain name when info: is used as it is on godaddy's landing page.. so how can you pass this?

Check the backlinks and the referring domains.

My usual process when buying domains start with an age check, followed by a PR check and then a PA/DA with backlink analysis.

The more I spend, the more time I invest in the backlink analysis.

That's the risk you take when you buy a domain at auction. There is no foolproof method of knowing if a domain has been penalized. In addition to checking backlinks and PA/DA, you can also use SEMrush to see if there were any major traffic drops...

I also look at archive.org to see the quality of the site in it's previous form.

FINALLY! someone who actually read the posts and not just the title of the thread lol. Thanks alot i'll follow these tips in future.. i really like SEMrush tip any traffic drops would show a possible penalty in the past.. but still it will carry a question over it.. as you cannot be sure about it..

This is CERTAINLY NOT! what I was looking for and are not the answers for my question at all! Its really nice that you have come here to help me out but please read all the posts thoroughly before you start replying to OP or other members. It is extremely annoying when I refresh the page excited to see replies from fellow members only to see that they did not even read my posts thoroughly and skimmed through it. For me, the previous version of the site is the LEAST important factor, but I still look. I'm looking for things like if it was a spammy auto-blog with unreadable content. Did have porn on it? Things like that. You need to use your judgement.

The most important factor is, of course the strength of the backlinks. A legit PR 5 will have solid links pointing to it. If you can't find any good links in the top ten of ahrefs, majestic, etc.. then it's probably not real PR.

Then I look at the anchor text. Does it have a high percentage of "money words" as anchors? Then it COULD have been hit by penguin.

The bottom line is you need to look at all the variables and make an informed decision.

Use seospyglass. Check if the domain has got links from hi pr pages. If it has links from hi pr pages then you are safe. If you want to speed up then look for the old entries of the domain in archives.org

Great! I just read this somewhere else a while back and have downloaded their free version.. will be checking it out in a while... but i have the free version of it not sure if they still show results or not atleast for the first 10 links haha..

Wow this sounds like a combo package to get the best sites out there! I do have SB and Seomoz sub.. and I have the addons you mentioned as well.. my problem is getting the list of thousands of domains.. what i usually do is set filters on godaddy and then export the first 40,000 domains list as a CSV file and then use scrapebox. But my MAIN problem is that i always end up with shit results.. so im guessing my domains list are CRAP.. please shed some light!
