How do you protect your eyes?

Thank you every one...even i had problem of eye strain. This post have solved many queries. any natural way?

Actually, ya know, sitting at a computer all day puts you at a much higher risks for blood clots.

Get up and move around often!

I wear glasses.
There are some special lenses with anti-reflex coating which reduce the monitor radiation. I don't know how much it cost but in my country i payed like 300$ but it totally worth it.

This thread pops up about every 6 mos. I've used Gunnar glasses for a few years now. But with age I now need prescription glasses. So I got a set with the same tint as Gunnar (blue light blocker is the cure), added AR (anti reflection to keep the backlight (room lighting) from bouncing off the inside of the lens. Not cheap but worth every penny (mine were $500).

Besides a good set of blu-blocker glasses I take Occuvite with Lutein once a day. Watch the Lutein mgs as some OTC will just give you a 2mg dose. Get at least 6mg dose. Most eye doctors recommend Occuvite and Lutein to reduce floaters and keep eyes healthy.

Most importantly you must get some good artificial tears to keep your eyes lubricated. When staring at screens your blink rate slows dramatically and your eyes will dry out. I recommend Systane Ultra. It's not cheap but is OTC. Worth every penny. I dose up the eyes about 3 times a day (every 4 hours) and now rarely have serious eye fatigue. I used to use Visine or Opcon-A which are good to remove the redness but they do almost nothing to lubricate your eyes. Systane Ultra is awesome. Lasts a few hours at least.

That's my tip, Gamer glasses like Gunnars to block the blue light, a daily dose of Occuvite + Lutein and Systane Ultra. Your eyes will love you for taking care of them.

Here is the tip> Since we all be infront of all types of screens PCs, pads, phones almost whole day its not only our eyes that will be strained but our body as well for constantly sitting at one place and typing etc. So you should not only concentrate on exercising your eyes but your whole body as well because if ignored it leads to back pains, neck pains etc.
So here are the two things that are must :

1. Exercise whole body - If you don't have time to hit gym or workout for 1-2 hours then just spend atleast 15 minutes a day just to warm up or stretch your body. Trust me this warming up or stretching helped me big time when i started exp a bit of backpain in between
2.Exercise your eyes and relax in intervals - I take a gap every 20-30 minutes..You should look outside of your room for objects that are very far atleast for 2-3 minutes. Then do some eye soothing exercises twice a day. You can easily google it

I don't do eye exercises and I tend to think they're a joke.

They can re-moisturize your eyes but so can a shower.

The best way to take care of your eyes is to take care of YOURSELF.
This is why I run everyday and workout.

The second best thing you can do for your eyes is avoid the following:

1) Sugar, soda, sweets, simple carbs.
2) Caffiene, tea, coffee, red bull.
3) Nicotine, pot, almost any type of prescription medicine.
4) Salt
5) Alcohol

I'm not saying you have to live like a nun but it definitely helps to avoid
these things. What you should also do is follow the advice of Tony
Schwartz (sp) who is famous in the time management niche. He did
a seminar with Eban Pagan a while ago and they talked about this for
a little bit.

What he teaches is working in 90 min intervals and taking breaks.

So if you're on the computer for 90 mins, go eat for 30 mins.
Or go run for 30 mins. Or do situps for 30 mins. Or go jerk off.
Do anything they gets you away from the computer.

Then work for 90 more mins and take a 60 min break.
Then 90 more mins and take a 30 min break.

You have to make sure your brain is recovering and its never good
for your eyes or your brain to work for longer than 90 mins straight.

This is also why most college classes are under 90 mins (most, not all).

People are a lot more productive when they work this way.
The worst thing you can do is sit in front of a computer for 6 hours straight.
That shit will take a toll on you fast.

So break up the monotony and take care of yourself.

Thats really the best advice I can give.

This is right up my alley glad I clicked this link. I have been using computers for 14+ hours a day or more for close to 15 years. back in the CRT days to now. I had the problem where it looked like I got punched in the eyes or never slept for a month it was due to computer use and slowly leaning forward while using computers. Eye professionals said the only resolution was to stop using computers. I also had issues sleeping. I would wake up ever 20 minutes. I also have to dim my screen to a point where most others cannot even see it but I can. I still do it to this day

I stopped using computers for a month (it was hell) to see the result and it was promising but all my revenue is from online so I knew this was not my solution. Here is what I did to fix the problem. It may not be a solution for you but it worked for me

1) drink at least 2 gallons of water per day
2) don't stay up passed 12pm no matter how long your work day is. Get up earlier if needed
3) Join a gym, run on treadmills.
4) swim super long distances (I swim at least 2 miles once a week)
5) get out in the sun more and get a tan
6) Change your diet as mentioned above and avoid anything that comes pre made in a box

Issue resolved :)

I never had any eyes problem though i stay on laptop for more than 13 hours a day

i lower the brightness than go to graphic properties than again lower it to -60

If u have Lcd monitor ,u shouldnt worry after you have done above step
(i have done lots of research about this in my past)

most glasses wont help!

You can even do eye exercise once each 2-4 hours to get relief

yet ,i dont need to wear any glasses ,i can read any thing clearly :)

P.s:sry for my font color

wear a condom on face

thanks ,i wil give it a try

I was having similar problem with my eye way back when i was using CRT monitor , So i have switched to lcd monitor with florisint tube back lite , i adjusted the brightness to 100% so that the monitor no more have strobe light effect or flicker and also the refresh rate to max then i use the software of my grafics card to adjust the brightness to about 50% so effectively the lcd monitor will give you 100% brightness there by reducing the flicker of the monitor screen and the software will mask the 100% brightness to your set point in my case 50% and will make your eye more comfortable . I also use antiglare glass along with this . I could have bouth the LED backlite monitor but after research it says that still the LED light could give strain to eye (this part i am not sure ) any how i am comfortable with the settings now

i try no to read too many dumb threads posted in the wrong section... but seeing how your eyes are messed up... i'll let this one slide

I would suggest that you simply take interval breaks. Don't just sit and stare intently while working for 5-6 hours streaks. Break it into 2 hrs, then go for a walk. Return.

Again, it's not just the eyes you should consider, but your body as a whole. Nourish your brain, body, soul. Everything. Think holistically.
