i was told by someone at SENuke that using ahrefs to find information on my or my competitors backlinks was worthless.

anyone have any comments on whether that is true or not?

IMO Ahrefs still the best site explorer to check backlinks out there. I'm using it almost every week to check my backlinks, it works great.

Why that "someone" said it is worthless?

Ahrefs is definitely one of the best tools for knowing the backlinks.

if someone knows better than ahrefs, please share.

The guy had given me reasons why it was worthless. I am looking through my emails to try and find exactly what he said.

but according to him you guys are just being fooled or not getting accurate information. So you might lik eit and use it, but that does not mean it is telling you anything true.

But I will try to find what he said.

As far as being a tool, if it is a worthless tool then it is not worth using. But I am trying to find out.

Even if the accuracy is not spot on, it is still something. Ahrefs is indeed one of the most powerful "free" tools out there.

The guy had given me reasons why it was worthless.

Let's see the reasons why!

Honestly, it's quicker than G's webmasters reports, so t's the best free tool.

He's probably trying to get you to signup under him on a paid tool.....

Is it free? I have to pay 50 bucks for it .... Damn it.

I asked him why again. I will pass along the answer.

And I was raised to believe a man lived in a "big fish" for three days without dying.

My point is, some people just tell you dumb stuff. It's life.

Ok so basically he says that ahrefs does not or can not report all the backlinks. They tell you of only the ones they know of that exist rather than about all the ones that do exist. He sites there own representative as proof:

Well the man did live in the fish. That is not dumb.

Apparently ahrefs themselves says so.

I see most of links I build to sites I am working on appear in ahrefs in a matter of days. MajesticSeo needs more time and shows only part of links that appears in Ahrefs.

Not sure how accurate these tools are when you have x.xxx links. Sites I work on rank with low volume high quality links.

It feels like the accuracy of ahrefs is not so good as it used to be some months ago. It currently shows a whopping TWO links for one of my domains that is ranking 2nd position with 40k exact search traffic. Seems legit.. ;)

Ahrefs seems to be better capturing low quality links from guest books, blog comments and even social bookmarking. It has hard time with my manual tier1 web2.0.
