Do not use CNET!!

I wanted to download something from CNET Download and I had to use their download manager. I thought it was installing just one software because I never got prompted to check for additional softwares and boy, it installed tons of crap and totally messed up all web browsers' settings.

Avoid that site if you don't want headache, it looks like an authority but they are sneaky as hell.

I don't think I've ever been able to download what I wanted from Cnet. First you need to install the download manager, convenient toolbar and desktop link to the toolbar, change your homepage to lonelyarabhusbands.net and only then will you be considered to be given the download link.

You should have gone for direct download link from cnet download page.....! May be I am right with this suggestion...!

Before starting the download, you must have to look, what CNET is going to be installed and exit or close first download then your actual programe appears.

I hardly ever download anything from CNET, if I do it is usually something obscure and hard to find and that's like hardly ever but the times I have used them I've never had such issues.

For example this CCleaner link doesn't download no crap for me...

You can download on cnet without downloading their download manager, just choose direct download link (not the manager).

Use sandboxie.

This way nothing you have to do to get to said download with be permanent and needing uninstalling.

Plus, sandboxie is free, so its a win win, just dont download it from CNET

It use to be a very good source for free and trial soft, but nowadays its a total mess to navigate the soft listings there and find what you are looking for.

Cnet/download.com got sneaky installing there crap a few years ago so I stopped using them

Cnet is still one of the best sites i have known. If you don't like their own downloader which i believe no one does. I think there is a little checkbox below the download button that lets you download directly!
