Living and Working Abroad Idea

I was born and raised in San Francisco and I started to make money and moved to Mexico. So i was thinking of this idea of a network of places aboard where a blackhat or whitehat worker could just go to plugin. Example I live in Veracruz I have this city down pretty good. I can rent a furn bungalow here for $200 US with WiFi....I also rent a T1 office space that i can jack into downtown for $40 US per month. I can set anyone else up with the same deal if they let me know. Basically if you want to get away for a few months and want a place to still work while you vacation and hang out then this network thing might be the place for you. If anyone else has this going on anywhere else in the world maybe we can help each other out with cool cities to check out.....anyone? Maybe a map of cities and places that get reviews for people like the people who post here....work hard and play hard etc...anyone?

Post some pics of your bungalow and the view. Do you have an Ocean view? I may be interested. I pay 5 times that here in the US right now and I live in the middle of the country and the only view I have is of some trees.....

That's sounds like a really awesome set up you have. I'm actually in the process of a lease negotiation right now....... but man, I'm not setting foot in Mexico until the cartels are adios.

Mexico is a beautiful place and things are 10 times cheaper.

I can honestly say that I never ever felt in danger here at all in fact I get better treatment in Mexico........

If you are a traveler then many countries are suitable...

But do a quick check list first...

• How easy is it to get a visa, and how long does it last
• How many times can you renew a visa
• Is it possible to get a residence permit
• Many will want to work low key without paying taxes look into the options
• Medical care availability and cost
• Housing apartment rental costs
• Living expenses
• Personal safety

Just to name a few for starters...

nice tips....my goal for 2014 is spending 3 months in nice furnished houses/apartments with workspace in 4 countries.

USA - 3 months
Mexico - 3 months
Brazil - 3 months
Argentina - 3 months

got the USA and Mexico locked down now need the rest....

This is not about Mexico or whatsoever. I could be living in the Hawaii for example and could do same thing for you. Thing is more about exchange and have everything set up to help you working while doing your vacation. Also meet people with same mind-set etc.
The idea is great however it would take a bit of effort to connect people.

That is the hardest part to find people who are doing the same type of thing and more than that get what we do and what we need when we travel etc. The idea would be a page that maybe opens to a map of places that have been reviewed and rated for a travel/work environment.

Rent for a furnished home: 1 bedrooms furnished with views of the forest and close to the water $200 per month
(includes wi-fi and utils)
Workspace: T1 downtown about 5 minutes away for $40 per month with a desk, phone etc

Visa and Permits: Tourist Visa is fine

Then to have reviews and other items about that place and hopefully and ton more places.

I work a ton and my hours vary and so does my income which i think is common around here. So on the weekends or hours I am free I would love to open my door and go to the beach, a bar/club or something cool/new. Also at the same time not breaking my bankroll and meeting some cool new people. Imagine packing up your laptop and within 24 hours your laptop/workstation is all setup in a foreign country, you have a nice furn place to stay and best of all you are doing it dirt cheap!

As I was watching the Brazil vs Spain soccer game and drinking less than dollar beers in Veracruz I thought ... how cool would this idea be?

I'm in California and won't go to Mexico either. Too much murder and kidnapping for my liking.

I do think the idea is great, what you might consider is renting a room out to others doing IM, they could come stay with you for $XXX, get to see the place and stay as long as they like. 4 people doing this and you can easily see the world, you might even find a couple of guys that you like to travel with and the 2-4 of you could travel the world and split the costs.

Hey I'm in Mexico too left the states about 2 years ago when i was making about 20$ a day. I figured that was enough for here and definitely not enough for the states. I'm doing $100+ a day now and I'm planning on ging to brasil next year for a few months to enjoy the world cup. In the future I want to go to Australia and Canada and I've been trying to figure out how to apply for visas and how to show proof of income as it would be a requirement in my case. Have any of you had any luck applying for travel visas to other countries and being able to convince the consulate that you make enough IM money to do so?

Also, all the I wont go to Mexico comments are really ignorant to tell you the truth. Theres some cities in the states that have a much higher crime rate than cities in Mexico. I don't know if you guys are aware but Mexico is a very very big country and of course not every mexican is a criminal. If you avoid some parts of the country and use common sense you'll be ok and that goes for any country in the world not just Mexico.

You're welcome to do the research, I'm not doubting that you're safe in Mexico, I was saying Mexico isn't safe overall.

for Mexico I brought my printed bank statements for the last 3 months and I got a visa. they just want to make sure you are going to put money into their economy and not take jobs/money away.

I have not seen any violence since i have been here but then again when i was in the states i never saw a mugging. I think you have to live where you feel secure living or else it can become a hell. For me Mexico is great and I love it...but that is for me.

My idea is more like a map of places people have been to and found a great place that they could stay in and work at without any issue. None of these hotels.com places or even hostels...but place that you can rent that will provide you with a work/play solution for 1 month or longer. When I lived in SF and knew where to get the best food and the lowest prices because i knew the city and knew the market. I want to apply that model to a hotel/workspace network.....

I have Mexico down...ok that one is in the books. Now I leave to a new place in January and create the roadmap for others to follow if they want to....I am talking to someone who might move to Thailand and if they do the same then we have 3 place that anyone can pick-up and go and within 24 hours be up and running in a live/work environment that is very nice and very affordable.
