New blog posts indexing slowly

I have a blog with around a 100 indexed pages, with a number of pages ranking on the first page for relatively competitive keywords. All unique content and backlinks from a range of different sources including authority sites such as Wikipedia etc. (do follow and nofollow), but for some reason Google is being stubborn about indexing new posts and content (seriously taking there time). Bing are having no such quibbles and indexing new posts quite quickly (for Bing).

Anyone have any insights?

why does it matter honestly ? even if it was indexed overnight it probably still wont rank that quickly. as long as it get indexed after a few days and not too long like one month, I don't think there is anything to worry about.

Firstly, its quite depressing putting out new high quality content and having to wait for it get indexed. Secondly, a number of the pieces cover developments in a particular field so lose some of their value if their not quickly indexed, which means theres not much point doing those kind of posts/articles.

It takes some time for Google to update their indexing. Yet, don't lose hope. In no time, yours will be indexed, too.

if you already do link building, then i would suggest to share it on social networking sites and stumbleupon. If you have your site's profile on those sites then you can just post on them with your post link and you'll see nice index rates.

I tried it myself and my posts gets crawled in 5 mins max

My problem is just opposite to you. Google is indexing very fast while Bing is taking 3-4 days to crawl.

Wait for about 12 hours until google crawls your post then use "Fetch as Google" in webmasters tools.. it should be indexed within next few minutes.. also works if you update your older posts..

Yep, certainly do

1. Make sure your not "over pinging" it's worth installing the "Wordpress Ping Optimiser" and set it to 15 / 30 minutes. That way your blog won't ping every time you save / update your new page to have a look at it live.

2. Install plugins to update Facebook, Twitter and Google+ every-time you add a new post.

3. Install xml sitemaps and make sure you run a Google account with your anylitics, adsense, webmaster tools and Feed Burner are on the same account.

4. Get on Feed Burner, it will help you get indexed quicker it's what i use.

5. Use Google Adsense, even if it's a simple banner on your footer the two spiders are interlinked and if you get the adsense bot around, the actual Google Bot is never far behind. I've indexed non linked, non pinged content this way before.

6. If you have a static home page ie: Your blog is on the /blog/ directory, think about an rss script that pulls your feed and displays the links as html on your homepage. The homepage is generally the bit of your site with the PR so you want some of that automatically flowing to your new posts. There are free versions of this or you can go ahead and do some .php to create your own, it's fairly simple stuff.

7. If your guest blogging, throw a few links at your new content. Might not help with indexing but it gets a little more pr flowing towards your blog directory.

8. Build links towards the /blog/ directory. Maybe try and seo for "widget blog" or whatever your site is about. A little pr and ranking goes along way!

9. Create videos, get em up on youtube with a link to your new content. Same goes for blog commenting and getting stuff viral, always link it back to related content too. Give the spider plenty of links to crawl over everything with.

10. Install strictly auto tags, don't believe the hype about duplicate content, Google is smart enough to know about WordPress tags by now. Hell, on many of my sites the tags get indexed very quickly! The actual post will always be filtered to come first though, see, the robot is smart enough to know what's important!

That's about it really, my average index speed is about 1 to 5 minutes generally. Just keep it quality and give the bot some signals it needs to pop by quickly and it will come.
