[QUESTION] Does .us domain help US targeted mns?

Hello BHWers,

Just a question. Does a .us domain for eg. "keyword.us" help target US traffic and appear higher on US searches? Perhaps because of the domain authority from a us domain.

From wiki:
.us is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the United States and was established in 1985. Registrants of .us domains must be United States citizens, residents, or organizations, or a foreign entity with a presence in the United States. Most registrants in the country have registered for .com, .net, .org and other gTLDs, instead of .us, which has primarily been used by state and local governments despite any entity having the option of registering a .us domain.

Not really. For pretty much every country but the US, ccTLDs improve rankings. However, .us doesn't really improve rankings in the US. If .com, .net, .org, and .co are taken (and I have to have that exact word) I'd probably go with a .us, but otherwise, no.

The short answer as stated above is no it does not help ranking. .Com is king, and the best bet if available.
