igniteimages provides solid advice as I am also currently starting my own offline business in a local niche market.

What a company in Toronto actually did was that they put their detailing shop on cross province train parking lot at the edge. When people drive up and park to take the train downtown to work they give the keys to the detailers and when they return their car is spot clean inside and out if they want the inside clean. This way you do not have to wait cause you drop your car go to work and when you come back your car is their.

I used my seo skills to get clients.

It started off as a hobby and weekend gig for me and slowly built into a steady stream of income. Im still not full time and wouldnt want to do window cleaning full time, I do it for play money to travel and spend on my kids, but most importantly its a way to get off my computer and sweat a bit while exercising my muscles, I dont have nor want to pay for a gym membership.

oh, I must add that I too tried to start a mobile car detailing business the same way you are doing it.

however I learned that the overhead compared to profit margins were not worth it.
for example my highest detailing package was $120 to clean inside and out.

It took me 4 hours by myself to detail a car using the highest package $120, the overhead was high considering travel mileage, car soap, wax and other chemicals for detailing chrome, rubber, vinyl, leather etc...

In window cleaning I could make $350 on a house that took me 4hours to clean, and the only overhead was gas in my car and a few drops of dish soap.

I mean, I could thoroughly wash and dry a car on the exterior in about 15-20 minutes and spend about 10 minutes on the interior doing a quick vacuum and dash wipe down. And then if the package your client chooses includes a wax, simply apply the wax and then buff the car and you're done and that process takes about 45 minutes so you figure an hour and fifteen minutes to possible an hour and a half and you'd make $120. Remember I have a friend in Miami who does this so I know how long it takes and he also makes extremely good money doing this.

my detailing package was a thorough clean, I used the detailing brushes to remove dust and dirt in between all cracks in the dash and doors etc..

your 10 minute quick vacuum and dash wipe down is not considered detailing, its considered cleaning.

I'm in business! I got my license and business insurance, the company vehicle and all of the equipment and today was my first day in business. I'm actually at home right now for about ten minutes to grab some paper work I needed but my worker is at 7-11 right now doing vehicles for me but I'll be going back in a few minutes but I wanted to get on here to update everyone. I have a worker for $10 per hour and we've been getting an average of three cars per hour though we had 6 cars in one hour around lunch time. So far I've done $320 in business today and hope fully by the time I get back he will have done a couple more cars. It's nice to make good money when I didn't even wash a single car today! I'll update everyone later tonight once the day is over to let you know how the day ended up closing out. By the way, the 7-11 owner is taking 12% of my earnings to let me wash the cars there at his location & even with paying my worker $10 per hour there's still great money to be made!

Great idea man and I think this will work. It's these kinds of ideas and unique "Marketing" approaches that can be taken to be a step ahead of competition and can easily be the difference between a $10,000 month and a $15,000 month as you stated. My marketing will be offline in the beginning but SEO is definitely going to be a concerted effort of mine one I start gaining some steady & consistent clientele. Thankfully my keywords will be pretty easy to rank for so once I start doing SEO it won't be too difficult to start getting clients and phone calls.

This is GREAT news, couple of things to watch for... even at $10 an hour this is a cash business so be prepared to deal with employees stealing from you. Unless there is a way to install some surveillance that transmits to a server somewhere so you can go back and review it will be quite possible that you may have some employee turnover.

Also I understand that fleet deals give you some volume but I also hear that the dealerships beat you down on price pretty badly. Maybe a Lambo dealer would be different, only one way to find out.

On the other hand I also have a TIP I used to do sales at a company that sold extrusions, the employee parking lot was made of shell and dirt, you probably have seen these since you are in Fl like I am. Anyway a detailer showed up every Friday (payday) and gave the owner of the biz a free wash, in exchange the owner announced via email to the staff that the detailer was downstairs.

Every Firday he did between 10-15 cars which at an average of $40 is $400-$600 in one day at one stop and took him maybe 3hours.
