Hello and thanks for reading this post as I sit up at almost 4:00 in the morning after working late from putting some business stuff together for my most recent offline venture that will be starting in a couple of weeks. First, before I go into details about my new venture, I want to say that anything that one pursues whether it be online or offline will take hard work and dedication which I know we already know but it truly does take effort and I think it's something that should continue to be emphasized as I think many people start on a project and either get consumed with other things or give up on the project at hand entirely and with anything that one starts, it's important to follow through with it 100% of the way! :)

Now, here's the plan for what I'll be doing in two weeks:

I live in Palm Beach Florida and I have a close friend that lives in Miami which is about an hour and a half south of me that has owned a mobile car detailing business for about three years. After building his company website and doing promotional work for his company and services, after 2-3 months he built a steady clientel of 4-6 clients per day with each client taking about an hour to complete. Considering that for him to detail a car takes only an hour and with prices starting at $75 per vehicle, he's making a minimum of $300-$450 per day with only working for about 6-7 hours. I speak with him on about an every other day basis as he's a very good friend of mine and he says that business is only continuing to grow and he's had several $1,500 days so there's plenty of potential.

After doing some research in the industry, I decided to invest $10,000 into starting an auto mobile detailing business with an anticipation of earning that back just within the first 4 weeks. I've already registered my business name and have my license on its way and am in the process of obtaining a Commercial Solicitation License. I also now have Liability Insurance which gives me $250,000 in coverage so if there's a Lamborghini owner that calls to have their car detailed and it gets scratched, I won't have to pay the $3,000+ to fix it. I'll be picking up the van next week ($6,000) and the Generator and all of the other equipment that I need ($2,500) and will be spending the remainder on promotional material. Once my license comes in I can legally post flyers on cars at the local mall and will be hiring two people to put flyers out 8 hours per day and will easily be able to put out 2,000 flyers per day (These will be put out because I'll be doing it with them for a week to make sure they get posted). Within a week I will have an easy 14,000 flyers out and at a 1 % return would bring me 140 clients and with my service(s) starting at $35 all the way up to what's called an "Executive Detail" which costs $185, that means I'll be making a minimum of $4,900 and I'm well prepared to purchase a second vehicle with the equipment along with a hired worker if the workload becomes overwhelming.

Additionally, not only will this generate business initially but in the long run as well I'll get a lot of repeat clients so there's plenty of potential with first time customers. Another great thing I have going is my local 7-11 gas station which is only two miles from me. I've known the owner of this 7-11 for about 4 years and it's the most highly trafficked gas station around. There's an average of 125 cars per hour that come in and out of that 7-11 between the hours of 7:00 AM and 6:30 PM. For 10% of my daily earnings, he's going to allow me to set up a spot there at the gas station to detail cars (I have a trustworthy person to work for me there) and since it would be a stationary spot and I'd have no traveling expenses such as gas, cars at the gas station will be only $15. I figure that at 125 cars per hour that I'll get an average of 2 cars per hour on average and with an 8 hour work day that equates to $240 per day or $1,440 per week with a 6 day work week.

So between the 7-11 spot, the auto mobile detailing and with passing out fliers, I'm expecting a minimum of $10,000 within my first month and I know it's very achievable. I'll be sure to keep this thread updated with my progress and income and I'm looking forward to seeing the progress. I know this was a long post but thanks for reading this and maybe this will help to motivate others to start thinking creatively! :D

    Update

I'm updating this thread just minutes after posting at as I've received some comments from users that seem confused or are questioning the method that I'm using. The method in this post that I'm using is to find a demand that needs to be met and then find a way to make it profitable. There are tens of millions of car owners out there and there are going to be car owners who want to keep their vehicle clean so I decided to invest in starting a company that will meet this need in a way that will allow me to bring in more money then I invested within a rather short amount of time. So, my method simply put is to find a service or product that you know consumers or people need and find a way to meet that need. If you can provide that service or need for $2 while it's costing you $1, then you'll be in business. I think you see my point :)

Today (6/3/2013) - My Business License came in today :)

Sounds like a decent plan. Remember to think about the long term as well, not just the first month.
Keep us updated and best of luck :)

I know a few people in the auto detail business. It's a good offline income if you lay your ground work right.

No I'm not looking for motivation, in fact, I'm doing the exact opposite. I'm trying to motivate others to think creatively by providing a unique and proven offline business concept that's not often thought about. There's plenty of different business and money making ideas out there it's just a matter of finding them and most importantly acting on them.

I like what your trying to achieve, but unfortunately not many people will take action. But you have definitely given me a few ideas.

I'm not sure why your rep was negative, but its not anymore ;)

Although I don't see much I for what is normally an IM forum  I have to say that this is a very well laid out plan. If your numbers are true (aka, you didn't just pick them out of the air as I've seen some do), then I would say that you've done your homework and should do well.

I would very much like to see updates to this as you progress with it.

PS. +Rep given for such a detailed, workable method.

I think that your plan is very well laid out and it seems that you are going on the right path. It is great that you invested and doing everything you can to get everything going. Imagine if it was 3% or 4% coming in. wow. Just over deliver on your work and I am sure that they will come back again and you might get their friends to come in too. Good luck with your business and I will subscribe to this thread to see what happens.

Yes, I'll be targeting over 50 variations of Local KeyWords and I know I'll be able to easily rank for all of them and this will be primarily my main online promotional technique. Besides this, I also plan on building a Facebook and Twitter page for reputation purposes though I will be encouraging my customers to join these pages as I'll be posting discounts and promotions that I'll be running. Getting first time customers will be easy but keeping up a good customer retention rate is what I'll be primarily focused on. Oh and I also forgot to mention that as far as online promotions go, I'll also be doing 20-30 daily Craigs List ads/posts though I don't want to do this manually so I'm going to find a good software that can handle this for me as I know there's a lot of software out there for Craigs List so I'm going to have to see which one I think will be best.

Hit up Boca Raton that's where you'll get the big bucks. Also hit up Lamborghini Miami, see if you can work out a deal. I know the owner and he's a really chill dude.

You know the owner of Lamborghini Miami? I'll be going to the Lamborghini Dealership in Palm Beach and right down the road is the Rolls Royce, Ferrari and Bentley Dealership and I'm looking to go there within the next week or so to see what opportunities would be available. I live about 15 minutes away from these dealerships which is great because it's not a far commute and if they needed someone to be their quickly that's reliable I'd be the guy.

It's all about your reputation and the quality of your work and if you do a good job at what you do and you're priced reasonably I don't see any reason for why they wouldn't be interested in a high end detailing service. There's plenty of people on a daily basis that need their car(s) detailed so there's plenty of opportunities that are open.

Another day means more progress :) Today I designed and ordered 5,000 flyers and have found two people that will be posting these flyers out along with me for the first week. I plan on getting these all posted and handed out at the local mall (Huge Mall With A Lot Of Traffic) over the course of a week and am expecting a minimum of 50+ (1% conversion) customers/clients from these. I'm looking forward to them coming in and I anticipate seeing and sharing the results with everyone here!

Very interesting, does anybody else know any more details on the success rate of flyers? I would imagine the conversions would be far less than 1%, but I haven't tried it.
