Did you notice Namecheap Premium Domain practice?

I was and still am satisfied with Namecheap services. But two days ago i notices a dirty practice from them.

I found an expired domain which may be worth something in the future. So i decided to buy it. My first choice is Namecheap so i searched for it and saw that the domain is premium and it will cost me around $1800.
So i thought someone already bought it and now is selling it.
But i went to check it to GoDaddy (yes i dont like them too) and it was free. So i bought it there with a coupon for $2.50.

But WTF is going on with Namecheap? Do they have to play dirty?

GoDaddy and other registrar used those kind of technique.

Best practice is to always check multiple registrar and own multiple registrar to benefit promotion and avoid getting rip off.

I have seen that too. I have been getting my domains with namecheap from the beginning and I have only noticed it recently after I checked a few other places out. Like @Chungy90 said, check multiple registrars before buying a domain. They have to make money somehow.

I'd like to state that we never alter the domain lookup results with the made-up prices - domains that are available for registration show their respective rates as any new domain would. On the other hand our Premium domain list is obtained from another provider, so there might have been a glitch with that specific process. If you could send some details to alex.s at namecheap email address (including the domain name), this would greatly help us investigate why this happened. What you described isn't right at all, and this is not how we play.

Namecheap is CRAP. I have been a client of Godaddy and others for years registering multiple domains.
Last month I registered 2 domains with Namecheap and just because I used different addresses (I assume that was the reason) for contact/administration and billing, they suspended my account the same day due to "chargeback/unknown" reason. Lame.

This is BS in my humble opinion....

GoDady are the cr*p ones, really get up my tits,
whereas namecheap are 100% OK and to be honest,
with one of their customer services advisors coming in to BHW to clear things up
speak a LOT about the company and keeping its worthwhile reputation intact

I've used over 15 different registrars in the last 9 years and namecheap has been my favorite. I've been with NC for about 5 years now. I have a few domains at godaddy, but only because I buy them from people who push them to my GD account. I transfer them to namecheap a couple of times per year.

Companies care about their brand so they set up alerts to monitor what is said about them. I'm surprised you've never heard of someone doing that. I have alerts set up for a lot of different keywords, names and business names.

But you have an account that has already been established.

Namecheap has been around for quite a while now, and NOW they're getting on here because they're concerned with their brand?

How many threads have popped up in the past with their name on it?

I just registered a domain and it is listed as premium, I pay a little over the regular registration fee. My question is who actually owns the "premium" domains that you register through Namecheap. Do we own them or are we just leasing them?

It is the same as if you have hand registered it, you own it.
