I was just about to make a lame joke about a 'Cool Points' counter but then I realized I very rarely run into people trying to be cool here. That's the nice thing about this forum-- most of the people are actually working.

I've changed the rep requirement from 50 posts to 10 posts, that should help some, while still disallowing total noobs from using/abusing our rep system.

Note that a user must have a rep score of 10 to be able to leave rep. All users are given 10 rep points at registration, but it's up to them to keep it at that level or above

Can you clarify whether it is an abuse of the rep system to leave retaliatory rep? The thread it occurred in was deleted I thin (I can't find it in my post history), but the thread was about DP being down, I responded that it was down for me as well, and then he basically called us crybabies for just talking about it being down, and posted some Youtube video making fun of us. I left him a red, and then he responded with one saying "You reap what you sow", basically confessing to leaving retaliatory rep. Is this kosher?

Then today undergroundguru left me one in the autoblogs thread because of a dispute we are having, which he dragged into the mud. Hasn't been a good couple of days for me here!

Yes abusing the rep system can lead yourself to a ban. No retalation rep!

how can you tell who gave you a red? my rep just went down and i don't know what happened..

you used to be able to tell who gave you what rep. and i was so damn sure it was oceanman trolling reps... although he gave me a neutral rep with a bad comment once, newb.

You can't anymore. We used to allow this, but too many people were leaving negative rep in retaliation. You just have to live with the bad rep.

Edit: I checked out who left you the negative rep, and it was the user Whale. This person had over 100 negative reps left and 0 positive... Needless to say, this user is now banned for abusing our rep system. I've also removed each and every negative rep left by this shit bird.
