Twitter Urgent Trademark Concern

i have website name twitterservices.com and twitter sent message today to me asking to change my domain name

Your website was recently brought to our attention, as Twitter does not permit the use of
"Twitter" in third party naming, as this creates confusion regarding
the source of the content, and may suggest partnership or endorsement.
 We must ask that you immediately change the name of your website and
application

any suggestions ?

Put something in the head of the website such as "This page is an independant business services website. We have no affiliation with Twitter, we have no parternship with Twitter, and Twitter is not endorsing this page."

Then tell them to go F$%^ themselves.

Edit: As long as you are not intentionally trying to deceive people, and as long as it's clear that you have no affiliation with Twitter itself, then you should be fine as far as infringement goes.

Come on, I don't think its necessary for you to change the domain that you bought, just write a visible disclaimer in the homepage explaining that you have no affiliation with twitter. There are so many sites with the word twitter in the domain and they're still in operation. EG www.twitterfeed.com has been operating for over 3 years now!

is it just me or does the email content appear strange?

Surely the OP would have got a letter from
domain registrar / lawyer acting on behalf of twitter to
have it taken down, since it (persumably) would have passed
at least 2 of the 3 tests for domain retention by twitter.

OP, I personally think it is a competitor just trying it on with you.
Maybe you could clarify who sent it to you?

You don't need to explain you have no affiliation with twitter.... it should be obvious by the content on the website. Many large companies send out these emails without even looking at the site.

I would ad this "This page is an independant business services website. We have no affiliation with Twitter, we have no parternship with Twitter, and Twitter is not endorsing this page" to your privacy policy and put a link to the policy in the footer. No need to ugly up your site for twitter.

Abandon the domain and start fresh with a non-infringing domain. Seriously, wtf were you thinking when you registered that? All the big brands are trademarked, you still don't know that shit being more than a year as a member?

Although that email doesn't sound legit, but you got the sign on what to do.

"Tweet", "tweeted", "twitta" or whatever, it's all the same, don't fall for it. Putting a non-affiliation disclaimer won't help either as you already are dealing with something related to twitter, namely the followers just in case you missed, and moreover you are breaking their tos..

I don't see a reason to go into battle with Twitter over this. You're not going to beat them. Just change it to twitservices or tweetservices or something and let it go. It sucks but there's not much you can do.

I say put a disclaimer, then ignore. As said previously , twitterfeed is a big site, and they are still operating.

If this was sent via e-mail I would just completely ignore it. However, if they properly notify you (e.g., registered mail from a reputable law firm or Twitter's internal legal dept.) then you'll need to worry. At that point you need to decide if you have the resources, time, energy, etc. to fight a legal battle with them. Even if you are in the right, they presumably have way more money to pay for lawyers. Sorry, but this is true for anyone dealing with the trademark of a large company.

You can ONLY use trademarks in your domain if you're in a different niche. In this case you're using Twitter (trademark) in your domain and providing services for Twiter.
Change your domain name ASAP or wait for a C&D order/email/whatever from them.

I don't think that's quite right. I would say if you are in anyway trying to benefit from their name/brand then you can't do it.

I'd suggest getting advice from lawyer to clarify.

But as someone pointed out - twitterfeed exist quite happily.
