The Ultimate Amazon Thread Mark 2 - Q/A - Good/Bad

Hi guys,

Just wanted to update you with my authority site.

February : 0
March : 55$
April : 200$
May : 300$ ( and we're halfway there)

LEt me know if you have any questions.

I'm really smooth with SEO. I used a lot of high quality bookmarks (manual) and great social signals.

The thing that I focus the most is definitly user experience. Always tweaking my content to have the best time onsite possible and the strategie works, as we're now hitting 600 unique visitors everyday since a week.

Danny, I started my first Amazon site a month or so back. It is getting pretty good traffic but not converting. I am sending people to a search page on Amazon, which is the thrust of one of the articles that is getting a lot of traffic. I am thinking I need to pre-sell them on a certain product and then send them to that product? Any advice in that area is appreciated.

Also regarding news releases, do they not require address/phone number, etc.?

Your authority site is in one niche? Or you make reviews for everything that sells good on amazon?

Sorry for my poor English and I hope you can understand me.- I.

Conversion Rates - All I Care About Is How Many People I Get To Amazon - and whether they buy something or not -- that's what I get paid on --> my Sites have been Optimized to Sell.

I don't recommend sending to generic Search Page - this is the problem with the Geo Redirect Stuff - it kills Sales .... you need to pick out a product - or a list or products or accessories to solve people's problems .. then provide trouble shooting or general information on the niche to bring in some extra visitors.

For example today I was looking at Buying a Mac Mini / Eye Tv and a hard drive - so I searched on how to best use this setup and how good would it be in replacing my current TIVO Set Up -- well I found a bunch of review blogs explaining the whole thing - linking to the products on Amazon -- plus extra products that would be helpful ... this sort of thinking / strategy / linking works

but if you make it random / not well put together ----> and don't provide a good overall user experience then people won't click your links and your Sales will Suck.

Press Releases I just use Streets and Local Area Code with made up number .. PR will bring you Sales if its done well.

Thanks Johnny sure please get involved - because I do feel the thread needs more interaction with people trying this and not just me rambling away ---> there is no greater motivation than Sales / Commissions and Success.

My authority site is one niche. This is not a microniche site tho. The niche is big enough to get potentially 10 000 visitors per day if we rank for some of those big keywords.

Concerning reviews, there are a lot of product to review so we cant review them all for the moment because we're lacking ressources. All our profit is reinvested in content/user experience at the moment. I really feel that this site could earn 1000$ per month or more in september.

hi danny, a quick question here:

which keyword will be better:
blue widget for sale
best blue widget

i personally prefer best blue widget, the 1st seems is easier to rank. But only bad side for 1st keyword I think people use *** for sale to search some 2nd hand products or ebay product.

Honestly I would suggest you to use both keywords.

Compare all the best blue widgets in your articles and pre sell them. Tell them why a blue widget is better than a red one => then aff link to blue widget + aff link to red widget.

Hope it helps

Hi Danny.. thanks for this thread.

Can I ask a question. Do you know any good way to know the percentage of our site visitors that click the link to amazon?

You can try clicky web analytics. It tells you how many visitors you get and the actions they make on your site; the exact amazon links that they click, etc.
I've only been using this for a week but it seems good so far.

Danny can you share here in all the steps and tools that you use to rank your websites?

Thanks ur reply, I will surely use both keywords, but I personally think that "best" has better conversion than the "for sale"one if I put amazon products, I think when people use "*** for sale", they usually want some 2nd hand products.

Hey Danny, what do you think about this. If you could get the traffic directly to amazon. Would you get more sales? As you said your CTR is 10-18% but when you could drive 100% of your visitors to amazon without reading your posts/articles on your site (without reading pros-cons about the product and other info you provide in your articles). As you`re targeting buying keywords would you get more sales? What do you think?

Cheers

I think if Amazon can't see the Site you sent the traffic from - your going to get kicked out of the Affiliate Program and you aren't going to get paid.

Update from my site. So far sales have been very steady for May, I'm averaging $100 a day. That must be the result of getting #1 position for couple of keywords. I got all my SEO outsourced and so far I'm really happy with what they've been doing. If you are looking for vendors to take care of your SEO, I would recommend looking for someone that's very flexible and follow your instruction. For example, set your anchor text: 20% main keyword, 20% related keyword, 60% url/generic keywords (just an example)

Other things that I'm doing right now:
- Trying to get some social media going, focusing on FB right now. Already hired a part timer who takes care of updating my fan page and so on. Looking to buy some Facebook Ads soon.
- Hiring a writer specialized in my niche to write content on a regular basics (not just reviews, other info articles as well)
- Brainstorming, keyword research for my second site (this is mostly what I do, as I outsource most part of my first site already)

So like Danny already mentioned, you should look for ways to improve your business, try out things to see what works and what doesn't. At the end, you will learn a tons and easily apply them to your second, third sites etc.

Cheers

I think the main thing is at the end of the day this is a Real Business.

You have expenses / revenue and time management ... so you need to make sure you have the Skills to Create Sites / Manage Sites - but then ensure you run them like a business --> if one Site fails no big deal -- but always study what makes a good site - and how to maximize Sales from well performing sites.

Unlike alot of other short term methods for income generation - this one can be around for a long time - so you have to approach it with a different mindset -- no spamming / protect your Sites / Add Value / Customize and Provide Quality Content - as we all know Google is really tough on low quality Sites.

Thanks alot guys for sharing - and I hope you can continue to do so ... all the best today.

I think I've seen some success in this business.
Firstly, keyword research is really important, if you choose wrongly, you fail at start up. Then stick to your niche, do some research, know the basic features that customers care.
Content, I write them myself. Actually, I mix use spinning and writing myself. English is not my mother tongue, I'm not very skillful to write a long article. So I search for related articles, spin them then add some of my own thoughts based on my study on this niche. And enough call to action is a must.
SEO, I actually do as Danny said, and relevance is the most important. Saddly, I used to bought some crappy backlinks, don't do this. But fortuntely, not too many.
I have two of my keywords stick to top three, may be need more backlinks to strengthen the spots and stick to #1. This happens within less than 2 month. This month I've got 11 orders, not bad.
Now I need to finder more niche, and build more sites. Of course, won't do the same mistake.

Thanks For Sharing with us ShaneWZ -- > that's a good point .. everything is a learning experience but the main lesson is to always try to refine the process and make things better - and avoid any mistakes made the next time. It can really suck putting in all the effort and having to wait 2-3 months to see success .. but this is necessary if you want Google to provide you steady traffic -- moving too quickly with aggressive Seo can really hurt your Site.

Also if you are using any Tools to help you - that you think are worthwhile or not so worthwhile - then please feel free to comment on that as well -- as with anyone else.

I know what I like - but there's always alternatives that may be better.... so any comments on that would be good as well.

Thanks Alot.
