What stupid statistics:
- You are more likely to complete NAVY SEAL training than click a banner ad.
- You are more likely to get a full house while playing poker than click on a banner
- You are more likely to summit Mount Everest than click a banner ad.
- You are more likely to birth twins than click a banner ad.
- You are more likely to get into MIT than click a banner ad.
- You are more likely to survive a plane crash than click on a banner ad.
It is still me who decides if I'm going to click the banner, so "more likely" is stupid.
Well. I guess next time i'm doing any of those things, I'll take out my tablet, go to a website and click on a banner. Poof! Suddenly i'm on the mount everest playing poker while doing navy seal training, with a letter of MIT, getting a call from my girlfriend she is giving birth to twins and on my way home surviving the plane crash.

people will still make bank regardless of how low ctr are.. its called scaling either your traffic sources or Scaling to Multiple Campaigns
example having 40 small campaigns making $100 PROFIT every day 40 x 100 = $4000/day Easier said then done but still there are people doing this everyday with display and text and every other form of advertising. The point is that if you let this dumb article steer you away from display advertising your retarted..its just so easy to scale and so much traffic out there that the low CLICK THROUGH RATES are irrelvaent thats why you have to test & test and optimize to increase your CTR..

Some people just do a false things like thinking they've uploaded money to media buys and they good to go. But it involves hard work like any other niche in IM
this isn't really about statistics it's about hubspot wanting link bait, or tweet bait. "horrifying shocking truth" as a title and then "tweet me tweet me tweet me" on every line.. give me a break.
haven't done media buying and can't tell you if you'll win or lose, but when i put banners on my website, i got clicks. and sales. maybe it was niche dependent, maybe i was lucky, or maybe people just click banners.
and i personally have also clicked many banners. and bought stuff. if it's targeted to what i need and it looks trustable then i will click it. why shouldn't i. wtf.
and i wonder why some savvy marketers put banners on websites month after month, paying a ton for it - because they get no clicks? month after month? and they keep paying for the banner spot?
