To anyone reading this thread, whether it be just this page or going through it all ( and also his last thread )...
I have one piece of advice for all of you... Take action, seriously.. Just start doing keyword research right now, check out the amazon bestsellers here : http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers
and have a go at it. All you could lose is a bit of time and maybe some money off a domain ( can easily make that back if you truly want to ) However there is so much to gain, experience, big money and many other things.
I took action on this after contemplating on getting into amazon for months, don't regret a single bit of it. Business is slowly picking up and I'm eager to start expanding it even more.

I agree with you WhitePassion
.. it may seem like a risk to some people - but its really not - as no matter how bad your site is - you will at least cover your costs ... obviously no-one goes into this to do just that - so if you can absorb everything and get to work - you will make money well beyond just that.
Hope others start to see their earnings increasing and strategies starting to show some life .. catch everyone tomorrow.

People also should keep in mind that while keyword research while important, isn't rocket science. You can pick any decent buyers keyword, create a site for it with quality content and within two to six months get a stream of organic visitors. 99% of the keywords have competition nowadays, your task is to do a better job at it in terms of content and in long term efforts than them. EMD or Authority, work on a site consistently through six months to a year and your competition will slowly fall behind.
If this is your first attempt at Amazon or SEO than forget about picking the most perfect keyword and spending days on that, what you really need is the practice through trial and error and everything else will come along. There's NO way you will get that knowledge sitting at your computer doing nothing but research, risks in IM are investments not gambling, so go for it.
Another thing to keep in mind is that you don't need perfect rankings either, that would be optimal, but once you run 10-20 sites (which should be a long term goal), all you would need is a single sale on average each few day per site to make anywhere between $30-50 / day @ $300-500 products. And trust me, that first single sale you will ever get will run your motivation through the roof more than any of these threads here can; regardless of how little revenue you will get out of it.

I just installed amazon affiliate localizer on one of my sites that gets some international traffic. After a day I see clicks going to the UK and Canadian amazon pages.
However when applying to each country site, I got denied as an affiliate from Japan. Has anyone had success when applying to Amazon.co.jp or Amazon.cn?

Well I don't think Japanese or Chinese will probaly search for english reviews before they buy something.

I receive traffic from Japan nearly every week but it's not that big of a deal... The amazon affiliate localizer plugin redirects product clicks to the appropriate amazon website based on their location. If you don't have an affiliate tag for their specific region, then the plugin developer gets credit for the sale.
I'm actually trying to build a larger site with a focus on a specific market rather than a single product. So far, it has been decent, profiting total of around $60 so far in April and got some decent ranking too. Building a larger site has its advantage is that your new post tends to rank high without any backlinks and actually stays there. I'm trying to diverse my traffic though, trying to create video for Youtube and slides for slideshare. Will have to see how it goes.

Since my last post about a sale, two more of my sites have gotten sales for a total of 6 sales. As well as one more this morning when I woke up, and that's only THREE sites. I just started working on 5 more sites that were registered a month ago, just never started.
Danny's advice is not only great, it works! He has done a great job outlining things and giving us tips. At the end of the day its all about getting out there and USING what he's given us.

yesterday when I woke up i found out that i've made 18 sales!!!!! One $170 product x 15 and 3 more stuff. it would be arround $170 as i'm at 6,5% commission. I start loving that shit 
The only thing scaring me about this amazon business is that we relay on GOOGLE, even if i'm developping only authority sites... Google can slap ur website and fuck all your efforts... :s
PS: I started on march and my earning for this month is arround $300 till now I hope reaching 600 by the end of the month it would be more than perfect

that means you are on right track mate...... would be better if you post your strategy......
i started in feb and still 60$ so far this month.... because google take all my ranking keywords back and i lost all my traffic from google..

For the people having international traffic problems, try the amazon localizer plugin, ( i think its called) It will redirect to the relevant site, although it doesn't usually take you to the correct item, (surely this must be easy to fix) however, you will at least get a chance at a conversion, after the person searches amazon.
My Thoughts :
* when you first make a site - it goes up and down - till it settles into a more realistic ranking - don't get too happy or sad - just keep working as its going to take 2-3 months to settle down
* your going to need to join Amazon.com and set up a plugin to handle that - I only market to USA Myself
* theres nothing wrong with 10 page sites - because if it doesnt sell you dump it - if you make 100 page site well its very hard to dump that if it fails
* conversion rate tells you if you need to change up something because really well optimized sites should at least sell at 10% if not more ... probably your text links/buttons and ways to click through to Amazon are not perfect yet.
