What happen after you receive a DMCA complaint?

I want to share some videos and game (just DDLs) on my website, I want to know if I will get into big trouble if I do?
anyone here actually got DMCA complaints in the past? What happen after you receive the complaints? did you get into trouble because of it? please share your experiences?

if you complaint on certain game or video you will need to take it down if you didn't then you will be in trouble

They'll probably let you know what URL is the one they want taken off.

I get 20+ DMCA's a day on my music sites, they email you a link to their infringing work and after you deem they are legit and its a valid complaint you remove it, email them back and say it's taken down.

Then my script proceeds to get 20x more of those files and we go on our merry way until they find them again.

so I guess I don't have to worry much, since they will at least give me a warning first and then, as long as I take those links down then I will be fine?

now you make me curious, may I ask, what web host are you using, when you get 20+ complaints a day but they never suspend your account. haha or you are using your own server or something?

Well yes I have my own server but just make sure your host knows that you comply with DMCA and all infringing work will be taken down and they should be okay with it.

when you say "sharing site", do you mean the file hosting site like mediafire? or you mean, they are hotlinking other sharing sites links and then, post those links on their sites, and if they receive complaints, they will just let DMCA knows that they got those links from other websites server, not theirs.
Which is the case?

if this is the case, then I wonder how do the offshore web hosting companies work? I am talking about those that claim to ignore DMCA and move people to another servers instead. If they ignore DMCA, will they and the clients get into trouble?

The easiest way to put server issues is...

On-Shore Hosting = Legal
Off-Shore Hosting = Illegal

but DMCA is a US thing, so if those hosts have servers located at other countries, for example, Netherlands, and they have different laws there, and those hosts are still following the laws there, so is it really true that the offshore hosting is illegal?

i received 3 or 4 of them back in 99 for copyright images and my host just ragged on me so i took them down and never heard from them again.

You should not be the recipient of valid dmca. They would need to be sent to your host who will forward them to you.

thanks for sharing your experience, wow so they filed complaints back then in the 90s, for some reasons, I thought they only started doing it in the recent years...

Most ISPs can resolve this problem. In case if you have encountered this just call them directly and ask for support, I think they have people who are specialized about DMCA complaints. I've experienced this a year ago and it was resolved through my ISP.
