Trouble getting traffic to Forum

Hello,

I have recently started a forum about the yet unrevealed and unreleased Xbox 720, i decided to do it now so i can already have everything done once its launched. The forum is Spanish and has a .es domain name.

I am having trouble getting visitors to post and to register. I've made the registration process as easy as i could in order to make it easier for them to jump right into discussion. I also have a news section where i post news about the Xbox 720 in order to get people to visit the forum and hopefully join the community.

What could i be doing wrong? I am indexed by Google, have optimized my site for SEO etc.

Hello. I've been a forum poster in the past. In order to get a forum going, people must have something to talk about. how many threads can you open about an upcoming product that has not yet been released? and more importantly, what are they gonna talk about there?

common strategies for forum webmasters is:
1. Hire forum posters
2. forum contests
3. achievements and prizes for post count

these are just some. But the main idea is that there must be something there for people to talk about. otherwise, nobody will go there to chat.

No prob mate. What I would ultimately suggest though (if your domain name is brandable) is to host a blog on the domain name and run a forum on a subdomain.

ex. your main site goes on XBOX720GAMES.COM and host a forum on FORUMS.XBOX720GAMES.COM

so on the main domain name, you can start building your site with a blog and start ranking it with articles or original content. Then have a link to the forum on the main blog so that when the product launches, you're on page 1 and they will see the forums. On product launch day, hire forum posters to post valuable info for a couple of weeks to a month answering everything and participating in the forums as if they were ordinary users too. That should get the forum started. Start the contests and you should do fine.

Hire posters but make sure they aren't posting junk. Make it interesting. Post pics, videos. I had a game forum going for years and decided to scrap the whole deal. I got tired of the spam also I was getting 25 hits day and was lucky to make $5 off of it. The traffic was junk.

I still rank #1 for the game forum oddly enough and I have some generic Wordpress game site set up on mine now. I'm about to add it to my network if anyone needs some game site backlinks.

People only post in already active forums.

Make your own posts and answers that's the only way to get the forum going. Do not hire people to post unless you really have the money to spend on it. Set up a goal to post 10 new threads per day and you will soon see "real" people start contributing to the discussion and your forum will soon be living its own life.

I'd agree that the main problem is you're hoping to get people to visit a forum for something that doesn't exist yet, and hasn't even been announced, so literally all you're going to have is speculation. While some amount of speculation can drive a forum (it makes up about 50% of the posts on any sports forum I've ever posted on), there does need to be something more to post about. Keep going with the news section and try and get traffic there initially. When there's more real news about the 720, then you'll have a domain that's got seniority and some regular readers who'll become posters.

See if you can find some high profile game pages, and run a competition that you can win an xbox260, just by registering on your forum, and facebook page, and just get one of your friends to post a picture with his xbox.

i think you need to find good writers not posters.
try to add at least 5-10 unique article with your keywords daily

Hire some forum posters to make the site look populated. You could hire as many as you think you need to. And then promote your site and when others see that it is populated they may want to join as well. Best of luck to you.
