Mysite Loads in 6 secs. is that bad?

i just made my first site ...but i feel like its slow. it takes close to 6 seconds to load, now to me thats bad i want my site to load instantly but what do you guys think? what do you think is considered slow loading?
-it is a WordPress e-commerce site
-i use go daddy for my hosting
*And if anyone has tips on making my site load faster that will be great to thanks

Try from a few pc's it might just be ur pc, but use google page speed check for best results.

ok so i tried ping and i get an average of 3 secs i would say that is ok right? and it seems like all the .PNG photo files are the ones taking up the most time is that normal?

As everyone said above.
It could be your PC
It could be someone on the hosting plan taking all your bandwidth for the time being.

But, what happens with a lot of WordPress sites, is some people overload them with useless plugings. Try using as little plugins as possible. Deleting and deactivating everything you dont use.

Could be something up with the host. Or it could be the location of the server, and your/consumers location. Go ahead and use CDN for pictures http://yoast.com/articles/cdn-wordpress-maxcdn/

SuaveSalmon ok so how would i make the switch over to MaxCDN? i would have to cancel my hosting with godaddy first or sign up with them and then cancel go daddy..or do i keep both. this is my first website so im kinda new to it

EDIT: Nevermind i just realized CDN is is Not web hosting and i will still have to keep go daddy

Honestly I dont know. I have never used CDN before. I have only heard great things about it. You would be best to look around. As far as I know, you just store your pictures in their server, and they display them from the closest server to the consumer. So if the webpage loads great, but not the pictures, then CDN sounds like your best bet. Or getting a server in the country you are gonna be doing business in.

use google page speed tool to measure your site performance, I believe google must be using this tool for their ranking results as well, anything above 70 is acceptable. if below, try to improve.

Check your website with Yahoo's YSlow or Google's PageSpeed. These tools will help in spotting possible design "horros". Remember they are just indicators, don't take them too serious. Gzip compression is the one big thing many forget to employ - and it makes a big big difference.

If the png files take most of the time then check their sizes, 6 secs its a bad time for sure even for an e-commerce script. The images should not exceed 50-70kb at max.
If that is not the case maybe its the script fault and how it connects to its database.

GoDaddy is the worst hosting provider. Use HostGator, it's cheap, and better.

Google for a Speed Tracer tool. This is an extesion for Chrome that will show what take time to load.

I had a vide on my main page and it took 3 seconds to load the page because of it !
