Blind Study Finds YP Local Results Beat Google, Bing, Yahoo

Interesting, but the study was commissioned by YP. I'm guessing that it's a bit biased.

The results indicate that there was a very trivial difference in the quality of search results.

Also, these are the Yellow Pages that we're talking about. This is what they do. I would assume that they have higher quality returns in the first place—compared to a search engine whose focus is on a plethora of other elements, not just local businesses. But as we can see, the search engines are still doing a great job and providing us with a great, convenient service.

The Yellow Pages still have a relatively great amount of power and capital, so I wouldn't count them completely out of the race. I don't know much about their plans, but depending on what they do within the next x years will tell us if they will continue in their downward slide or fight to be relevant.
