If i make changes in website take effect in ranking ?

Hi friends,

In my organization they are making changes in website. Previously the site gives good traffic like 400 to 700 per day, but it decrees the traffic to 100 to 150 per day , they are making some changes and deploy website 2 to 3 times. is it really effect to ranking ? Please give me guide by which changes ranking will effect(example :CSS, code, Application changes)?

Keywords dude. I'm guessing they changed some on page content or deleted some pages. This will affect ranking.

Hi,

Among other things, your ranking is affected by on-site optimization (what you call "changes in website") and off-site factors. Not only is it affected, actually, it is essentially determined by these two factors.

Example 1:
If your recent (and apparently constant) "website changes" modify page titles, your ranking will tend to change accordingly for those search terms.

Example 2:
If your recent "website changes" affect website template/layout, for instance modifying H1 links for H2 links, it sill also likely affect your ranking.

Example 3:
If your recent "website changes" affected URL structure of content, it is possible that some pages will now have 404 errors or odd redirects which can also affect your ranking.

Example 4: If your rcent "website changes" altered the meta-descriptions of your content, search engine ranking will not be affected necessarily but it is likely that CTR of your page from search engines will fall which is consistent with the drop in traffic you expressed in OP.

These are just a few of the most common scenarios, I would start working on each of them in turn.

Yes - you need to keep your on-site SEO consistent with the changes. One thing that was not mentioned above was that changes to your site can shift your site architecture, which is also important for rankings This is a good example for anyone who believes on-page SEO does not mean much.

Yes, if they are touching on page optimization, there are most chances to effect the current ranking of site, but it will decrease or increase it is depend on your on-page and off page strategies, so keep all the factors of both the things in the mind while making the changes.

Mate!! I had a super bad experience with this. I have a EMD domain which is ranking superbly with all high competitive keywords. I thought i have to redesign my website after a month i saw my traffic is going down( it suckes to me) and google hits my keywords day by day and also my Exact match keyword too.

Along with your changes keep up the onpage work, it will hurt you still but less.
