A rep from this company name - Locus - w3.locus.com.my came to offer my friend to do SEO with them.

They guarantee to get her sites listed in Google Top 10 for 10 keywords and they said they even take Generic Keywords! Their service is MoneyBack Guarantee and will charge about USD2K for a year.

Besides, they told my friend that they will do pure SEO by themselves which means they do not need to touch the sites at all, just provide the URLs for them will do.

I find this a bit funny and ask my friend to hold on before signing the contract with them as I'm not sure what type of method they will be using.

Anybody know any company that will guarantee your site to be listed in Google organic search with Top 10 listing for generic keywords? It is kinda bizzare for me though.

Please advise.

If this is true then i would pay then 10k to get me to the top even just for 1 generic keyphrase (i.e. 'make money online' or even 'make money').

edit: how long does it take them to get the site to the top? do they reject any keyphrases? any blackhat involved? previous examples of top listings? time it took those examples?

I still do not trust them and my friend will arrange to meet up with them again. I told my friend don't work with them unless they really let her know what are they gonna do.

As I'm also worry if the method is really black hat, it will really get her sites banned.

May be you can contact them to check if they are legitimate.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

If anyone guarantees top 10 in the google for any generic word or phrase, run away from them as quickly as possible. A guarantee is only as good as your ability to get your money back if they fail. In this case, I'd expect your chances of getting the money back when (not if) they fail will range somewhere between piss-poor and unbelievable.

Oh and their website alone doesn't even rank in the top 10 for 1 of their meta tags (didn't try any others but i highly doubt it).

So if they can't do it for their site alone why would they be able to do it for anyone elses?

According to my friend, they do show her some sample site that they have done the SEO and it really works for Top 5. However, I'm yet to get further details from her.

I agree with most of these responses. If they are not going to touch your on-site content, there won't be much value to the service.

Also, $2K / year sounds very low.

How does your friend know that their sites that they gave as samples were really seo'd by their company? Did they furnish reciepts, names and phone numbers of the clients? Anyone can make anything up, wether its on the internet or in real life.

yeah Gen gives good advise here, also asked for their client list and call few of them up to verify
