I think blackhat karma caught up with me.

I must admit I pissed off a lot of people while blackhatting. I wasted people's time, got them to download adware, lied to them, sold them shitty products, reuploaded their work and redirected their traffic my way, abused their mistakes and caused various affiliates a lot of problems. The other day somebody decided to wipe out all my servers. CDP failed and for the last few days I was scrapping all the content I could from Google cache. All my databases are gone including various lists and whitehat user generated content that I have been working on for 7 years. I'm not really a full time cunt to people, just when it came to blackhat and I saw some potential for a profit. I think I even deserved it...

This kinda made me self reflect and look back at all this shit I've done. Hmmm... Do you believe in karma? Do you ever feel guilty for blackhatting?

Karma exists and I'm sorry you were on its list for biting.

I treat all of my business peers and all companies I work with, with respect.

Do good things in the future!

that really sucks you had all your stuff wiped!

I'm always worried about shit like this happening. So much so I have a huge server at home, unaccessible from the outside, that rsyncs all my data to a RAID 5 array over ssh and takes dumps of all my databases each night just in case someone screws my dedicated servers. Trouble with most hosting companies is that although you can have rock solid security from the internet in, many have huge holes on the intranet meaning you can be hacked from the inside from other members hosting at the same company or even employees. I guess the lesson learned here is backup, backup and backup some more.

Hope you can recover as much data as possible!

the world is round for a reason you kno its always heading ya way thats why from now on im going to try and do good deeds

I'm not sure about karma myself but I do believe there is something there so I tend to bounce my blackhat activities with a bit of charity work on the side. It just makes me feel better. I guess I got spanked for not doing enough :D

This is what I was thinking about doing now. The other thing would be to spread my sites over a number of hosting companies just in case.

I don't wanna hijack this and turn it into some debate about religion and the universe lol, but what about all of the people suffering in the world for no reason? Living under oppressive regimes, dying because of poverty, and little kids starving to death...

Go for it man, its all karma related I suppose. I think its relative. A kid in Africa might have the time of his life knowing that he will be able to feed himself for a year whereas somebody here might get depressed about not being able to purchase a bottle of dom perignon on a night out.

When it comes to actually dying and suffering. If you are an atheist you might say unlucky but religious falks might call it a message.

Hey Guys I Think Karma is a religion and Yes only if you see it that way...( I e you did wrong and now wrong is happening to you ) The way I see it bad things happen all the time even to good people... the sun shines on the good and the bad.

what's the message? what about victims of genocide? What did they do to deserve dying for no reason?

yea im over it lmao

I don't believe in karma in the traditional sense of the word, and what happened to you was just shitty luck. Chaos theory as stated above, is a bit more practical for me to believe in than karma.

That's why I donate a portion of my BH money to charity which allows me to feel a little better about what I'm doing

"the sun shines on the good and the bad" is unfortunately the truth

well i belive that if your good off the computer then who the fuck cares .... Man i've fucked with sooo many people but then think ur really not hurting many people. most of the guys u screw are dumb, shallow, ignorant so really who knows mabey were karma for those losers

I firmly believe that, as the old saying goes, "What comes around, goes around". You reap what you sow, ect, ect.

Bad things happen to good people, and vice-versa. It was just your turn to get hammered.

Karma can be a bitch.

Randy

first of all sorry for that loss, hope u can recover as much as possible.

but getting fucked over by somebody you fucked over is a potential risk, especially in the area we are dealing with here. you took that risk by pissing off a lot of ppl. one of them got you back. thats not karma.
so the whole discussion is useless.

and no, i ofc dont believe in karma..

Karma WILL catch up, it's the consequence of action and cannot be evaded.

But, it's an antagonistic discussion and leads to similar results of religious discussions as evident here already. Best of luck to you, mightybh, in restoring your databases.

Thank you for not bitching :)

I think karma is more like a domino effect-- not some metaphysical equation. I think most people assume it's that without actually doing any reading.

When you act, there is a reaction, which creates another reaction, ad infinitum (as I explained in another thread)... this action will most probably affect you again somehow whether it's in ten minutes when someone reports your ass to your hosting, or 20 years down the road in some ridiculously unrelated but related event.

Karma Wiki:

Through the law of karma, the effects of all deeds actively create past, present, and future experiences, thus making one responsible for one's own life, and the pain and joy it brings to him/her and others.
