Get thrown in jail?

I was wondering if cookie stuffing is enough to get you sued if thrown in jail? I don't see why people are against it ,they still make their piles of money. Is it possible to get charged or sued if you are under 18. Is it possible for cookie stuffing period. If it is, what is another way to hide your links that is free and very efficient. Thanks

The owners of DP got sued for cookie stuffing by egay. I don't believe they will get thrown in jail though.

Getting caught cookie stuffing can result in a civil lawsuit. I haven't heard of it becoming a crime just yet.

Well I saw a report on tv where a law firm was hired by a gaming company to send compensation orders to owners of IPs who downloaded some of their games from torrents. It was reported because apparently these people where totally innocent of doing so. Whether ebay would do the same, who knows. It certainly scary that they could.

On small scale like we all do (lol not all of us), we can get away with it without a sue. But on large scales like what DP did then it's obviously a lawsuit coming to your door.

it's not a crime yet, just again egay tos, if egay caught ye, yer account will be banned + no comission, that's all

It is not a crime and you are not likely to be jailed and it the big guys they would look to sue. You need money and assets before the lawyers will come after you. If you under 18 I doubt any ramifications except to be banned and not paid. Just be careful and do not get greedy and you can most times fly under the radar and learn how to disguise your traffic

And no i have never heard of anyone going to jail over it. And they will most probably only file a civil lawsuit if you get very greedy. Most of the time it just results in a ban if you are caught.

What about those that lose their ebay accounts and conspire with others to post auctions on their behalf? That is proliferating cookie stuffing. Wouldnt that be taken a lot more seriously? I would think those people would be stopped by eBay by any means possible, or it could get way out of control.

Anyway if you dont want trouble knocking on your door.. personally im steering clear!

Getting sued and getting charged with a crime are two different things. I don't think some people realize this.

I think if the DP owner case goes eGay's way, then they may well start suing more people, and other Affiliate networks may follow suit.

They'll probably aim for the big guys though.
Imagine having to pay back all profits from CS over a few years. That'd be a big fine!

Learn some htaccess editing or better yet, use PHP to redirect to your affiliates if you just want to hide your links.

they will try and sue the fuk out of you, which is fair enough, but i doubt you could be put in jail, unless the lawyers are good and convict you under "computer crimes"
