I know paypal can be a pain, but the thing is a website which sells stuff and doesn't accept paypal will (IMHO) drive away lots of customers, even if they weren't going to use paypal to pay...

Magento has a built in report with "abandoned carts", its people who put stuff in their carts, started to fill in the checkout info and then for some reason didn't go thru with the order. I don't know about other platforms.

tbh, I followed up on these, like 20/ day for a company I used to work for, we would ask if there had been a technical problem or if they changed their mind, and we even offered a 10% discount if they would go through with the order.. less than 1% people replied and most of the time they said they finally decided to buy somewhere else or something... if they left your site when it was time to take the wallet out, chances are they won't bother replying to those emails.

Use this simple method that I've found years ago. Include the sentence "Buy from official website/dealer/etc.." in the ad banner.

Did u try a remarketing / retargeting campaign?
It's excellent for e-commerce sites - especially applying remarketing campaign using Google Analytics and the prices per click are a lot cheaper.
