I know Google always say use the tool to help you see your links, identify broken links, etc, but at the same time it is way to spy on your activities. if you do aggressive internet marketing and affiliate business, then avoid Webmaster Tools!!!

I was told not to use Webmaster Tools by an affiliate veteran some months back but i ignored the advice.

I lost 30 websites overnight, all from same google webmaster tool account, de-indexed in a day. i was making over $250 daily from all.

I also noticed that sites that had just 4 so-called unique contents and only 4 p6-p2 articles back-links were also de-indexed,because they were on the same webmaster tool account

Don't use that tool, it is like reporting yourself. Dont submit sitemap, be patient, the bot will find you, Google crawls everything on the web.

I have been here for sometime now and i hardly make a post but i just want to share this with everyone here.

The only Google tool I use is their keyword tool but I have never put any of their codes on my sites, I've always been paranoid that it's a way to spy.

agree with OP, if you are doing any BH stuff DO NOT USE g's tools
experienced similar results as OP + adsense and adwords accounts banned
it is fine if you are white hat all the way

Yeah. Don't use their f*cking analytics as well. Got more than 300K pages deindexed over night, right after I added analytics code on them.

I don't think that google needs your website to be registered with webmaster tools or analytics in order to know your backlinks profile, time on page....etc. Webmaster Tools mostly shows the data that google already has about your website. As for analytics, they can use the data from Chrome...so I don't think that deindexing is related with registering the website with any of these services.

without being registered at GWT, G still knows who owns those sites.. so it really doesn't matter should you use it or no..

You guys are dumb. lol. Google crawls your website and can detect blackhat methods regardless of if you've registered for GWT, or Analytics. GWT and Analytics isn't for them. It's for the webmaster to keep a closer eye on their website. To think that you're somehow "safer" by not registering your website with any of Google's tools shows how little you know about SEO, or how Googlebot (or any other search engine crawler) works.

You CLEARLY just stated that Google crawls everything on the web. Do you not understand what Googlebot does? lol. It has ways of detecting blackhat methods when it crawls over your site. It reads through your content, and digs through the source code of all of your pages. Google Webmaster Tools doesn't somehow give Googlebot any more power over your website to do anything special to your website. It simply gives you the ability to see when there's something wrong with traffic/backlinks/etc.

To think that you're somehow fooling Google by not using GWT is foolish... plain and simple. Googlebot crawls over your website regardless.

The ONLY extra information you are giving google by using webmaster tools is that all those sites are owned by a single person.
And you might still be giving out that information from other methods - analytics, adsense, your piwik domain, your outbound affiliate links etc.

Google already has the information they display in webmaster tools, they aren't getting it after you add it, they're just showing it to you as well.

Good point no4h, submit or not to google service not make you banned or not banned.

The importance is do not over backlinks in all site (submitted or not). From my opinion you submit or not big g will always find a way to validate importance of pages on your site.

Works with basic robot.txt and .htaccess to redirect 301 and control where spider crawl your site. I have around 16 sites (all hold in one GA and GWT account) and not see any problem. Do I using blackhat? yes, sometimes but my SEO strategy not depend on one system.

Vary you link building strategy and use good service in our bhw forum to help you more vary link source. For me it works.

So, why do you afraid to big G, it good analytic and webmaster tool indeed :P

Sorry to bump an old thread but I thought my question was relevant to what's being discussed here.

I'm also kind skeptical to use Google's analytics tools on my sites. What alternative do I have? I cannot install Piwik on my current server - a shared hostgator.

1 Google account per site would be a safe way to go, that's what I'm doing anyways.

And different ips per account I assume? I'm afraid to mix ips up and google catching me.

I also not longer use it. If you are still using it, then make sure that you do not have more than 1 site in the same account.

By adding site to google webmaster tools you are not adding any tracking code to your site.
You only place one file of tag to show that domain is yours.

So, all google can do from webmaster tools it can do without it.

Only thing that is wrong is that you placed all sites in one account !

You really do not get it do you? Using GWT say to Google "Oh by the way, here are all my other websites, slap these whilst you are at it". It has nothing to do with the fact that the site would or would not have been slapped in the first place, it is more to do with the fact that they can take down all your sites in one easy move.

I have to disagree with op.

i had around 10 sites in GWT and one got slapped in 2011. None of the others received any penalty what so ever. To this day the slapped site is still sat in my webmaster tools along side the rest with no consequences.

The site got penalised for using the aln network and has now started ranking for keywords it used to without me touching it. The unnatural link message disappeared after around 6 months or so. I didn't do anything to the site.
