Jox are you sure these are Freelancer charges? There is nothing in your transaction history for $8.21 or $3.19.

I agree besides being scammers as a company they have the most scammer freelancers of any freelancing site I have tried. -1000 for freelancer.com

I use Odesk now. The bids are lower. Less scammers. There is no stupid $30 minimum job. Also, it is easier to keep people long term without going outside of the website.

I Had similar issue with hem, and they steal my $190
I Will never deal with them any more with payment wise

Just saw a project which is 100% invalid as per your terms, but still you guys allow it to be posted because its a "featured Project" and you guys getting nice fee for that and later on you will reverse the provider money and reverse it to buyer, so double benefit, Right ?

But I am unable to post it over the thread as I am a newbie. Any option to put it here ?

I know you don't have any answers of my questions.

I'm amazed that you still haven't 'got it' Matt. The FL system is broken. It is not creating a win-win-win for the employers, the freelancers and FL itself. It just seems skewed in FL's favor. "It's my ball, my bat and I own the stadium too, so I set the policies". The job postings and revenue may still be growing so you probably don't see anything to be alarmed about but I suspect you may be losing the cream of your freelancers and employers. There is a chance you'll end up with just riff-raff customers or those who are too dumb to know better. Maybe you don't believe us disgruntled brats in this free-for-all on the thread here but maybe you should run a customer satisfaction survey and target it at customers who have done at least 3 projects as freelancers, or posted 3 projects as employers. Maybe you will get some useful impartial insights.
 
i used to use getacoder.com, i never had problems with them

They are too big to care. In my opinion the system is not broken, it is just incomplete. I feel safe a lot of the time if I follow the rules. If matt's team add a small notification on every transaction that clearly shows the fees involved in the operation, 99% of the issues will solve instantly: "Awarding this costs $12.3 usd", "Sending this money costs $3.4 usd", in every action with a fee.
 
On my part when withdrawing my balance on their site towards my PP account I guess $55 or $85 after something..up until now I don't get my money perhaps they took another money from my PP telling its for membership fee.THAT SUCKS! but I can do nothing. they are thief! grave for money! hate them.
 
Hi why do I have to wait for more than 14 days to do a withdraw ? I did a withdraw today the 27 of Jan and they say it is delayed to 14 of feb Why? I need my cash now not happy 2 wait more than 2 weeks.
 
True it is a place for scammers. I have lost lot of dollars there. Have worked on few projects which were unpaid. You shouldnt expect quality from that site. You will find lot of cheap services but when it comes to quality it is a big 0.
 
All new users have to wait 14 days the first time they withdraw. This is enforced on us by our payment gateways.

OK I took a look at this one. The employer posted a project for some articles to be written which you bid a certain price for the quantity asked. I see that you didn't reply quickly and so they awarded the project to someone else about an hour earlier. They then had some other work but it was outside your area and not at the rate you wanted and the employer said they were OK to cancel it. From looking at this it doesn't appear that the employer was maliciously doing a "bait and switch" on you. Your fees have all been refunded for this. In future just make sure for your own protection that you have a milestone payment in place before you accept the project from the employer.

I consider myself a freelancer poweruser (top 50 most active users on there). I see freelancer to be a good platform, except that it is overpriced. If you guys are complaining about a monthly fee then it might be the standard fee, which i subscribed to. I find there to be a lot of eager workers on there willing to work very hard to make a living. You also run into many bad eggs. That is why I hire in accordance to feedback.

The feature i find most useful in freelancer is the milestone payment system. It's a great way to pay and reward hard working individuals. I hate it doesn't have a chat system because messaging potential freelancers makes it so inconvenient.
