wow! i can't believe ppl are actually asking for a "high risk account". that's the first ive heard of this. truth is...there's no such thing, and if there is, its illegal LOL
With respects, there is definitely a "High Risk" industry with regard to payment acceptance. Most merchant service companies regard SEO, MLM, Affiliate Programs, all as high risk.
What is High Risk? The risk in ANY credit card processing scenario is related to what they call "chargebacks" or basically customers disputing charges on their credit/debit cards and winning those disputes. This chargeback process is very costly, and lowers the merchant bank's reputation with V/MC.
Think about it this way, if
COMPANY A sells a fony product with a lot of hype and has a wild amount of orders, and then purposefully closes its doors the next month the
customers then realize its a scam, but
COMPANY A has already closed its doors, closed its bank account and cashed out. This leaves the
customers with no options to reclaim their money from the merchant, and the merchant bank MUST reimburse all of them. THAT is high risk for the merchant bank. So specific industries and business models are going to have this stigma, even though they may not be scams, they still fit into the category because of history, credit, financial viability, industry, or maybe the underwriter making the decision on approval or decline of the merchant account was just having a bad day!
It sucks, but hey, this is an entire industry designed to service people's fleeting notions of "I Promise to pay".
