Haha, drawing a comparison between a cheating sportsman and a serial rapist is thin at best- they are significantly different in crime and therefore my view of them will be differ significantly too.

Also, I might need some clarification on how exactly Lance's cheating has destroyed more lives than his charity has saved?

Yes he might be a complete twat who lost his moral compass years ago, but the work is charity has done is incredibly beneficial to those it has served, which is far more important than an armchair cycling enthusiasts negative opinion .

Here's the funny thing I hate cyclists with a passion! I would quite happily run the feckers
over at every and any opportunity I could get. In my eyes they should all have tax and insurance ,ride in single file and only between able to ride between the hours of 5am
and 5.30am.

Take away the charity , what has lance Armstrong done ? Now remeber the charity
that he helped set up was mostly funded on his fantastic name of being a superhuman
sportsman and a superhuman cancer survivor.

Do not confuse the charity work with what he done, if I go out and buy a few massive
car companies like ford etc then proceed to shut it down and but donate 40 mill to charity
does that make me a good bloke.

I could go on about the coamparsions with Mr Saville and Lance but I won't, but if you
think about it and read the stories of the people that have been blighted by lance, then you may draw as many coamparsions as you wish.

Me too. Get them the fuck off the road. They don't belong there with their two-wheeled recreational toys. Every time one gets run over I feel sorry for the poor motorist that had to run into them. Cyclist blood all over the outside of the car, pieces of bone stuck in the treads of the tires. Someone has to pick that stuff out of there, you know. If they *ARE* going to be on the road, make them fuckers carry full coverage insurance, to cover all the possible outcomes of a motor vehicle vs. bicycle accident, to include spending the rest of their lives as quadriplegics.

They should force cyclists to ride with the skateboarders, the rollerbladers and the unicyclists. Maybe give them a round track at the playground where they can enjoy doing laps, passing-up little girls on their tricycles.

I don't think he ever had "cancer". That dishonest, lying, cheating motherfucker probably faked having cancer so people would first feel sorry for him, and then act like he was some kind of hero for having "survived" it. He got Dr.'s to fake blood, get illegal drugs, etc... it naturally follows that he was able to get Dr.'s to fake both the cancer, and the "cure".

effected by this scandal is that I have no doubt Mr Armstrong will
end up being the saviour of cycling...

The smartest thing a cancer fund solicitor can do right now: Start a new cancer research effort called the "Not in any way connected to Lance Armstrong Cancer Research Fund". Even organizations that were never connected to Lance Armstrong will have to start including small disclaimers in their advertisements.

The Oprah interviews were purely an exercise in reputation management. Armstrong had two prime time opportunities to win back the American public.

Who says he wants to win back the public?
Last time he did that you know what he
did? He doped to win 7 TDF's to win the heart
of the public. It's exactly this kind of perception
that everybody has to be MrPerfect and Mr Likable
that causes some unbalance in what society values.

When high-profile guests appear on Oprah Winfrey's show, they are expected to weep copiously as they reveal all. Someone as competitive as Armstrong knows that second place counts for nothing: his choking up and near-tears just did not cut it. America wanted rivers of tears.

Why would you want him to cry? Crying
means jack shit and people would definitely
call him out if he did cry. Honestly, let the
man be who he is.

Didn't give a full confession
The only way to do a confession is to go all the way. Armstrong appeared to want to go only so far. He needed to name names and give full and frank details. But Armstrong seemed happy with generalities and still denies key allegations.

That's a smart move by him. Even what he
said without going into a full confession (which
he pretty much did), he didn't want to implicate
any others which could lead to several legal
matters.

Didn't lose the 'attitude'
During the hours of interview, many commentators remarked on Armstrong's controlled and emotionless demeanour. Armstrong needed to show he was human and worthy of sympathy and ? most importantly of all ? genuine. His performance came across as just that: something fake for the camera.

Can't tell if you are just joking now. Seriously,
a fake lack of arrogance is the worst you could
do. Secondly, he is a sportsman. I'm not saying
all sportsman are arrogant or whatever but at
the top level you do need a bit of a step in your
stride or you are going to be crushed. As such,
who gives a fuck about Lance's arrogance, it's
called a human characteristic that he's allowed
to have. If people don't like it, tough shit - go
live in your world of hugging and warm and fuzzies.

Played the victim
Armstrong seemed to break another cardinal rule of such confessions in having too much self-pity. At one point, he felt that he "deserved" a chance of a comeback. He had failed to understand that in the world of TV confessions that is not up to you any more."

This seems exactly like something called culture,
last time Lance did what the "culture" around
him did, he ended up doping. Lance is his own man
and he's a strong enough individual to not
try and be someone who he isn't.

So Armstrong got to 6 TDF's and said to himself "Oh, I know I'll go for TDF 7 because I really must 'win the heart of the public'".

You write as if have no clue about pro cycling. A pro cyclist dopes to maintain a consistent performance to train and compete throughout a long and grueling cycling season. Why does he need to do this? So he can get a pro contract for the next year. No team is going to sign a rider who has shown no form in the previous year. A rider wins the TDF not only because he has great form but because he has a great team. The 'public' do not even come into the equation.

Why would you want him to cry?

Personally, I couldn't care less, but the American public do. Apparently, it's called entertainment.

Haha, I was never a fan but I didn't dislike
him. I just feel a lot of people who talk about
Lance have probably never watched more than
5min of the TDF let alone follow any other aspect
of the sport, and that he deserves a bit of
defending.

That said, everyones entitled to their opinion.
