Nice post but if you are spending $200 - $300 on a 'smallish operation' you are doing something wrong.

I spend $20 a month ( $10 vps + $10 proxies ) on my "operation" which works fine: It creates 4000 contexual backlinks each day and last 2 days of the month I use scrapebox as tier 3 / indexing.

Everything else are 1 time payments; market samurai, scrapebox, gsa, captcha sniper.

How many proxies are you buying and how about you share that proxie link because the cheapest I found has been $18 for 10 and $36 for 25 proxies. I have all the programs except GSA and UNF.

Well I suppose it depends on what you need your setup to do.

Since i'm running it for as part of my SEO for clients who pay monthly I need a good VPS, proxies that stay alive and are reliable. Also you don't mention what software you are using. A lot of good software is pay monthly subscriptions. Then there's captchas and content spinning costs. I don't see how you can get all this for $20 per month.

I think if you're serious about SEO and have the funds then making sure you have a smooth well operating setup is key to producing better results. If you've got bad proxies and a shitty VPS I don't believe going to get good results.

Proxies are there to stop your IP being banned. So if you're using the same websites several times you'll need proxies for all stages, otherwise you won't be able to use the sites again and you will likely be added to a blacklisted IP database.

I'll have to disagree with you on senuke. The developers are very receptive, yes it is expensive, but then again, it isn't aimed at the noobs who haven't made a penny in IM, more so the intermediate/advance guys that are looking for automation link building. You should only be using senuke if you can afford it. As a avid user of senuke, it has been an integral part of my toolbox.
