This is the standard Blackhat foundation setup for linkbuilding.
A smallish operation will cost approximately $200-300 dollars per month.
VPS (Virtual Private Server)
VPS stands for Virtual Private Server. It is always possible to use your home computer for Blackhat linkbuilding, but if you are serious about your linkbuilding campaign then you really do need a VPS. If you use your home or office computer you will be limited by your connection and CPU speed, you will also have to leave your PC all the time and running extra programs will cause problems for you and the software in your linkbuilding setup. Having a VPS means you have a separate computer hosted elsewhere which you can connect to at anytime. You can run your linkbuilding tools from the server and effectively run your whole operation from it without impacting your own life/computer.
You can use Google to find a VPS however there are some VPS sellers in the BST section of BHW. I?ve only used one provider and they have been great for my needs. Poweruphosting are cheap and they haven?t let me down yet.
The most important aspect of a VPS is the RAM, you want at least 2GB. Usually the CPU and connection speeds are fine, but RAM is always an issue. 2GB can be sufficient for a basic Blackhat linkbuilding setup.

Proxies
Proxies are the most essential part of the whole operation because they are the main bottleneck. You NEED private proxies in order to run an effective linkbuilding operation. We need them because many websites have anti-spam security in place. Nearly everything you do will require proxies, and if you have bad proxies then they will bottleneck everything.
A proxy is like a VPS, but its sole purpose is to mask your true IP address to the websites you want to spam, scrape or access. You need many proxies otherwise the sites will detect you are a spammer and ban your IP from their site completely. But if we use proxies we can access their site from numerous IP addresses and safely stay under the radar.
There are no providers which can give you 100% fully working, lag free proxies. Proxies are notorious for burning out fast, depending on how hard you hit them.
I?ve used a couple of providers but found Squid Proxies to be best. For a smallish operation i recommend 25 private proxies. This will set you back $36 per month, you can buy less, but if you want good results you really need more than 25 in my opinion.

Content Spinner
Google likes content syndication to a few high quality sites, but when you?re spamming on the scale we are and to the low quality sites we are then you need to use unique content. Unfortunately for most operations we cannot afford to hire someone to write hundreds of articles every time we want to get some backlinks from low quality sites. So in order to achieve unique content we use a content spinner.
A content spinner is a piece of software of a service which will take the words in your article and reorganise the article using ?spintax?. This ?spintax? will show many variations of a given word in the original article. Most software we use for submissions(we will talk about linkbuilding software later) will be compatible with spintax. On submission the software will ?spin? the article witht he spintax and a new unique variation of the article will be posted. Most of the time the articles are unreadable. Some people spin by hand, i personally spin with the software and submit as is.
I personally use Spinnerchief, but there are many content spinning services. Another popular choice is ?TheBestSpinner?.
Article scraping
Since we are spinning our content we don?t need to hire someone to write articles for us. We can simply scrape an article from the web and spin it to be unique. Being able to scrape content from websites and article directories really speeds up the process of setup up our campaigns.
There is a good free article scraping software available on the forum here;
http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...67754-get-get-article-article-scraper-29.html
Captcha Solving
Almost as crucial proxies for any operation, captcha solving is another requirement to ensure we bypass anti-spam measures and access a website. Captchas are the small images presented to us on registration to most sites. They usually have letters and numbers inside the image and we are asked to key in the letters and numbers in order to prove we are human.
We don?t have time to enter these ourselves so instead we use a captcha solving service which can cost between $1 and $7 per 1,000 captchas.
Two of the most popular services are Deathbycaptcha and Decaptcher. Just Google/Bing them. There is also the option of captcha cracking software which can save you money in the long run.
I use Captcha Sniper here;
http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...niper-your-auto-captcha-solving-software.html
Captcha Sniper will solve a small proportion of your captchas with its visual recognition. It cannot solve ReCaptcha types though. They are what a lot of sites use, mainly because even humans have trouble getting them right so software is still way behind on it.
Linkbuilding Software
The nuts and bolts of the entire operation. The software you use determinds the links you will be creating. Some software is dedicated to blog commenting(Scrapebox), others are dedicated to a whole host of different links(Ultimate Demon, SE Nuke).
You will have to use your initiative and do some forum searches on what each software is capable of and how best to use it. You will have to spend considerable amounts of time learning a good piece of software but the payoff is that you have the power and understanding to plan your linkbuilding campaigns effectively.
In my opinion you need a combination of software to cover all basic link types.
Types of Linkbuilding
There are several basic linkbuilding types;
Software can be difficult to learn, it can also be expensive which is why i recommend buying software which can cover a lot of link types.
I have two pieces of software which i recommend and all link types above and more.
They are;
Scrapebox
Scrapebox is undoubtedly the kind of software. It focuses on only one link type, Blog Commenting. But it can do so much more. It is an online crawler/scraper and whole swiss army knife tool which you will likely never fully master. Scrapebox gives you the capability to power many new linkbuilding ideas and techniques with all of its features. Scrapebox is a must for any Blackhat operation in my opinion.
Find Scrapebox here for $50 flat purchase;
http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...mmenter-prstorm-mode.html?highlight=scrapebox
Ultimate Demon
My personal favourite. Ultimate Demon is cheap and very powerful. It has a bit fo a learning curve and can be difficult to understand at first, however after some time you begin to realise how the software is meant to be used and why they built it the way they do. It can cover all link types i talked about above apart from Blog commenting, so it complements Scrapebox very well as a tool in your arsenal. The key to using Ultimate demon is to realise that linkbuilding can be scheduled and drip-fed over time. This keeps your link velocity steady. Link velocity is something we will talk about later.
Demondemon.com is a great website all about Ultimate Demon run by a forum member here called Scritty. A knowledgeable chap.
Ultimate Demon will set you back around $47 a month, find it here;
http://ultimatedemon.com/
Other software which you should review, research and checkout are;
Apologies to developers i missed from the list.
With this setup you now have the tools to begin spamming and creating links across the net. There are many other uses for our software and setup too, you must be creative.
Below are some important topics you should understand to successfully run and campaign and protect your website.
Tracking and managing rankings
First and foremost, you can?t run an effective campaign if you can?t track and manage your rankings properly. You need to be able to get an update presented to you every day on your website?s progress. Recording rankings is essential to assessing the effectiveness of your campaign.
The service i use is Rank Ranger. There is a cheaper alternative available on BHW, but i can?t stress enough how good Rank Ranger is. The amount of information they present on your website makes them irreplaceable as a service. I won?t talk too much about them because I have an affiliate link in my sig to them.
You can find Rank Ranger here(not an aff link);
http://www.rankranger.com
Keyword Research
Good keyword research is translated into good money. Being able to find great keywords and target them is essential to making money.
I suggest learning how to research keywords using Google Keyword Tool first. Then buy Ultimate Niche Finder. It is an incredible piece of software will very quickly and easily give you search volumes and competition analysis in an easy to read software package. You need proxies and captchas to run this software.
You can find Ultimate Niche Finder here;
http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...off-free-lifetime-uniches-com-membership.html
Scraping and managing lists
With your Blackhat setup you can post to many websites which will likely come built into the software. But real power comes from scraping your own lists of websites to post to. Software like Ultimate Demon and Scrapebox are great for doing this. Many sites will go down over time and you will have to begin scraping. If you have a great list of websites to post to then the power of your setup really pays off.
Learning to scrape and manage your list is a big step which personally i still have not mastered. But once you are capable, it will bring you brilliant results from your investment. I seriously recommend you learn your chosen software thoroughly by using their support and searching on forums for guides.
The other option is to search for people selling lists. Buying lists is quick and dirty, but it reduces the power of the sites because many people can then spam the site. You want your own personal list which you can use to power your sites. You will realise the power in a good list as you progress and track results with Rank Ranger.
Tiered Linkbuilding
Tiered link building is basically what is described as ?building backlinks to your backlinks?.
There are three important points to note about why we use tiered linkbuilding;
Anchor Text Management
Google released a new update to its search engine algorithm in April 2012 called ?Penguin?. This update targeting webspam by analysing backlink profiles of websites. If it found that a website?s anchor text(the text in a backlink) nearly all consisted of the same exact match keyword then it was almost certainly spamming . This led to thousands of sites being penalised(including my own!).
But now we are prepared for Penguin and we know that we must avoid building the same anchor text otherwise we will be penalised.
What you should do is build a diverse anchor ratio. Always insert generic anchor text in some links. Anchor text like ?click here?, ?this website?, ?this link?, ?read more? and the bare naked URL is what you need in your anchor text profile. Also, make sure your anchor text is naturally diverse, Search engines are now really good at understand relations of words. For example a site about ?apples? is naturally related to ?pears? as they are types of fruit. So building anchor text every so often which includes the word ?pears? is beneficial to your site?s anchor text profile.
Link Velocity
Google filed for a patent many years ago which spoke of a ?Trust Graph?. This TrustGraph analyses the rate at which backlinks are created to a website. Natural backlink of a website which doesn?t engage in linkbuilding has a very smooth and curved TrustGraph. The graph flows up and down at a steady rate unless there is breaking news or something viral. A blackhatter?s TrustGraph who does not monitor ?Link Velocity? will have a TrustGraph which shows huge spikes in the graph, showing that huge amounts of backlinks were created. Then the Blackhatters link graph will likely drop off sharply followed by a lot of dropped links(website delete the links) and more huge spikes. This unnatural ?Link Velocity? is very easy to detect and Google is alerted to the fact that the site is spamming. We don?t want Google to know we are spamming, we want to appear natural, so Link Velocity is an important factor. Ultimate Demon is great because you can drip-feed links over a period of time.
Protect your site from the Google Dance trap
Google released another patent recently which spoke of a mechanism in the algorithm which is specifically made to fool spammers like us. When it suspects that you are spamming the mechanism may randomly DROP your rankings. It does this in order to catch you out by analysing your reaction to the drop. If you build links and trigger a Google Dance then you are being tested by Google. They want to see if the linkbuilding stops or increases in reaction to the drop in rankings. If you react by increasing or decreasing the amount of links you build then Google knows that you are trying to artificially influence rankings and has cause to penalise your website or discount your links. Avoid this by ignoring it and keep on building links steadily.
Tiered Linkbuilding
Tiered link building is basically what is described as ?building backlinks to your backlinks?.
There are three important points to note about why we use tiered linkbuilding;
- Building thousands of links in a short amount of time from sites with no content(like profile links) can trigger a penalty from Google. So in order to get the most out of our backlinks we protect our site by creating a first tier of links, usually very few links. Then we create a larger second tier consisting of thousands of links which all point to the sites in tier 1. So we may have a tier one of 50 links, then in tier 2 we have 5000 links spreads across tier one(5000 links pointing to 50 links which point to the website we want to increase rankings on).
- Nearly all of the backlinks we create will have very little power. The pages will have no PageRank at all. We want our links to be effective and we want them to pump PageRank to our website and increase rankings. So we create a second set of links(tier 2) to powers the links of tier 1. Over time our Tier 1 links may get some pagerank, effectively resulting in higher quality links in search engine?s eyes and higher rankings.
- To help search engine find out backlinks. Often we create backlinks that may never be found by search engines. Search engine?s work by sending out ?spiders? which crawl through websites and index their pages. If the Spider can?t find our links then the link is useless. By building links to our links we give them a much greater chance of being found.
