IMPORTANT THREAD: Leaving India, where to go? CONTINUED!

I will not take the phony marriage/body shoppers etc route. Thanks :)

but most of the countries in EU aren't as judgemental as you make them out to be.

I lived in a couple, and I don't flinch when I say that the only country in the EU where you can ever be close to integrated and feel welcome is in the UK. The EU perception of national identity is mostly related to our ethnicity. Whether you are Swedish or Portuguese, the perception of your nationality is "people that look like me". So it is easy to say that being an immigrant in Europe vs USA/Canada/Australia is a totally different thing.

LoL at the infrastructure ( lack of ) you mention in India - maybe you need to visit a few of the indian cities to get the info.
With the kind of money, you say you are earning, there is no better place to live than in India.

I live in Navi Mumbai - it has 24 hrs power, cheap internet, good roads, restaurants, malls, very cheap labor
( we pay $30 a month to one of the maids to cook food for 3 - one time . To others - this is the normal wage here ).
And less than that to another maid for cleaning , dishes and other day to day things )

Have you actually asked someone how is life abroad - away from your family.

As far as quality of life is concerned - with that kind of money , you should not even think of leaving India.

As someone mentioned, you need to get married or first get a girlfriend and then think about changing nationalities.

Sure they are that is called hospitality - getting to stay and work there permanently is a whole different ball game...

How do I know well I have lived and worked in over 20 different countries - so that gives me an idea what is going on...

When I say an idea I mean that as bureaucracy is very complex and self serving to the degree that one needs a near genius IQ to understand many a Government Form and as for filling it in - forget it 9 times out of 10 you have to pay a broker - and of course he tears the arse out of the money in your pocket...

Caveat Emptor - When traveling around the world expect the unexpected!

To put it simply, you recommend EU or not?? I hate to talk about skin colour, but if it's important, am not brown, nice tanned, like some Italians. Anyway, I find it funny and disturbing at the same time that I have to write this in this discussion! Someone once actually told me to be careful in Romania/Eastern Europe because I might be mistaken for a gypsy!!

Yeah that's really true. Even for that self-employment I said earlier that it's free, it's atually quite hard to get it on your own genius IQ definitely needed, so you end up having to ask a broker and as you said he charges a ridiculous amount...

Well, let's face it. With 500 dollars a day you'd be a very well paid person, so you could transcend some of the problems that other immigrants face. BUT... if you want to go for EU, then UK is really the best choice. First of all, they speak English there. You can hang out with large groups of other Indians, see the latest Bollywood-productions in cinemas, and eat really good Indian food. But the weather is crap, so by all means, aim for the USA.

Dude, if you earn $500/day just buy a new passport. I think you can buy Montenegrian citizenship (that's a small country in Europe). I think Australian citizenship is $200,000 (You don't buy citizenship, you invest that money in AUS and they give you papers)
That's it, if none of the above answers (get a wife, move wherever you want,do this do that...) is not good for your please continue earning your money and leave us alone

It is not possible for me to recommend as all countries have different rules and regulations. You need look at a country and before you go there find out if you can stay there and on what terms...

It is called legal paperwork and many countries prevent people of all colors and nationalities from residing in the country

Each country is different so how can anyone say go there - unless you can guarantee you qualify for residence...

In UK & Ireland there are many people from India, but the weather is just pure crap. I don't get why do you want to leave in EU so desperately. If I were you I would aim for US or Australia - more freedom, better weather ;).

D.

Well, let's face it. With 500 dollars a day........

At first I actually thought of doing my MBA from London and get my 2 years work permit in UK and stay there. I couldn't care less about the actual job prospect. But then the rules changed. TOTAL BUMMER

you live in a heaven bro :) you dont have to move from your country while ur a black hat. If you get caught outside India, you're digging a big trouble for you.

I will not take the phony marriage/body shoppers etc route. Thanks :)

Then you're living in a dream land! Seriously, dude, almost all the top companies that you see are bodyshopper clowns. Get down to learning how they work, and you'll understand. I said "almost all"... :)

And I will end up working like a slave for them I guess :)...and are you hinting at the IT companies? I am not from IT or even Engineering background.

There are even B.Com passed people who have gone to US on H1-B and worked as programmer/consultant! I know because I have worked with at least 2 of those, and they didn't even had any work-experience in IT field (programming... there was no real IT concept in early 1990's) before they reached there. They 'somehow' managed their way around and were able to stay much longer than many who truly deserved! lol. You see, passing B.Com is only 15 years education... US needs at least 16 years. May be they managed to show some work experience... I really don't know though what enabled them to be so lucky.

Money power can buy you anything, I suppose.

You can learn oracle, for example. Be a real master in it (may be within 2-3 years at least and get a job). It will be easy then to get a job abroad.

You may not get H1-B initially. When I got mine, a friend who was from IIT Mumbai and a brilliant programmer still was denied in US Consulate, Mumbai. But the good lady at the counter was sympathetic as she looked at his impressive qualifications and told him that he should get a related job in another good country like Japan or Singapore, and then he can be considered good enough to work in US. But that chap was outstanding... he reached the US and I think is still there working at a top spot in a great MNC.

Just for your information... it takes time though.

Goto canada as a student, take a few courses get your degree, then get a canadian citizenship. Money opens doors, but without certain credentials it cant open all doors.

Again, only posted this on BHW because of the unique nature of our work. Immigration/Expat forum members don't have a clue what IM is, or have a very negative view. Even I will have a tough time explaining to any embassy officer what I do! [I don't know why the word "WISA" is triggering BHW moderation.]

Why can't you just say you have a store? For less than 20 bucks and a week's worth of work, you can have a store next week. If anyone asks what your occupation is, tell them you have a store. There is no trouble explaining that. Name the store the same as your name. Designers do it all the time. John Smith Designs Pick something that you make. Cabinets, Indian themed jewelry, furniture, Indian design quilts, etc Get a domain, get pics off the internet, create buy buttons, and there's your store. Since the name of the store is your name, and the money you make now in IM comes in your name, there's not a problem showing payments either. Just say you also do custom orders.

WTH!? Everybody is saying about staying home. :( NOOOO. Please read the second para of the opening post.

The grass isn't always greener on the other side. You're still young. Why don't you start out traveling and see how you do with that? My daughter is a year younger than you are. She wasn't fond of our boring little state and couldn't wait to go somewhere different. She graduated college, got a good job in another state, and she comes home a lot. Sometimes the things you didn't like about where you lived turn out to be the things that you end up missing when you're gone.

Here it goes my dear, Indian Fellow. I've been investigation moving to 1-st world countries, because I am in exact the same situation like yours. Except my reasons to move is because I expect my online-offline income to increase when I move to my new place since I would have many working opportunities. I am more into offline marketing then online at todays point.
So I can give you a real life advices. I also lived in US and Germany before so I have kinda my own personal life experience.
Since I am located in Eastern Europe, but not in a country that part It, wouldn't go to any European county except maybe UK. Specifically London. But the weather is there not the like I am used to and it's not just enough free space, all crowded, I speak mostly Northern American accent and accept their culture, so I feel that option is not gonna work for me.

US is hard to get in, they have E-2 Visa options that allow you to stay in country. I feel it's the best option for you. But the whole process may take up to 1.5 year to complete since you need to make an investment, do paperwork and then apply to visa. I woudn't play with H1B thing since it's pretty much unpredictable, and you don't want to come home after you spend 50K on education and living expenses, right? Downside of this option be ready to spend 200-300K on your expenses. Does it really worth it? That's a business, especially online, you take risks, you may find yourself in a situation where it is not working like it supposed to, but you still need to qualify their rules.

My personal belief is that Canada, and Toronto is the place to be. It's vibrant city with many opportunities, close to US border, multicultural, south asians too. City is booming, lots of construction going on. So you could perfectly fit in this beautiful place too. I have my classmates in this City, they like it and don't want to come home. Canada is cool country, one of the best in a world if you can afford it. There isn't much violence like in usa, people are great, you have a big brother right next door from you which is simply amazing and opens you new doors and opportunities if you want to.

What you need to do is get a Masters Degree which is usually 1-year study (You need to show about 25-30K, that's it), then they will give you a work permit. You find a job which is way better then in US, where you need to find a sponsor for a H1B job. After 1 year you apply for Permanent residency. Then you are good to go after total spend of 2 years.
Since you have a stable online income you could work for minimum wage in your industry and still get this all thing rolling.

I've PMed you, feel free to add me at skype. We could discuss your future opportunities at CA. Because I am moving there next year and really love it! Let's make this process together my friend, we have lot's of common things to share.

Interesting reply. Well, I have looked into USA. And my only way of getting in (apart from a phony marriage) is getting enrolled in a serious study program. With my academic background and profile, I will get scholarship from Top 30 - 60 US universities for their MBA programs and will have to pay approx $20,000. Do you think it will be a good investment? I will have to get a job after that and then get the employer sponsor me for H-1B. Am not sure whether to do this or not. :(
