IMPORTANT THREAD: Leaving India, where to go? CONTINUED!

I am Indian, and for the past few months, I have not posted on BHW. During this time, I have continued doing IM using BHW's METHODS and have started seeing success. It's difficult to describe how much indebted to BHW I am. I currently have a -rep because of my past indescritions, I was a noob, I hope it will not affect the replies here. I will rectify it in future, and for now, let's get started with the issue.

I currently live in India, and I don't mean offence to any of my fellow Indians, but I am not going to spend my life in this country. The weather is horrible, it's a furnace here, add frequent power cuts even in metro cities (means no AC) and you can imagine the situation. Add to that a broken infrastructure, poor net speed, paypal issues, even adsense issues etc. Lastly, I have a weak immunity, and the general hygiene and spicy food wreaks havoc with me. Again, I mean no offence to India or Indians (am Indian after all!) but this country is simply not suitable for me.

My current earnings are around $500 per day and growing. With this income, I can guess I can live in most western developed countries. I am 24 BTW.

I want to move to UK/Europe and eventually settle down in one of the countries. I was looking at Paranoid Android's thread about the same topic.

But how am I going to deal with the residence permit issue?Nobody even talked about it in that thread. I earn enough to live comfortably in UK. But how can I get permit to stay there? I am seriously losing my sleep now. Can anyone help. Nobody in immigration and expat forums are well conversed in IM, they don't believe it can be a serious profession. Yes, I got such replies.

I will be monitoring this thread and will be replying/adding details as necessary. But for now, please help me BHW. I could have happily teached a British or European the way around IM only if he/she could provide me the solution of my problem. Yes, am so desperate.

P.S: This thread will also be useful for lots of other IMers I guess.

you will have immigration problems and limitations where-ever you go at this stage - till you have enough money to qualify for a permanent residency program. So you would need to move countries from time to time to renew visa or to abide by rules

European Union non residents only get like 183 days allowed to be in the zone - so 6 months a year.

Anyway - I'd try Malta first and check it out

Other Options Different parts of the world --- Peru / Columbia
and Asia -- Phillipines and Thailand.

Investigate those now - when you get there then speak to people and figure out if there are better options in neighboring countries.

Not to be mean but how is this forum is going to help you? We're not any politicians or any kind of that to answer your questions. Ask the local embassy of the country you want to immigrate to about the requirements. Usually, it's not much of an issue to come to EU, however it is if you want to visit the US, pretty strict rules there.

I posted this thread because lots of IMers travel around the world/change their country of residence. After all, our profession is not tied to one particular location. I thought some people could chime in with their experience. Lastly, I know plenty of IMers have moved to EU with their IM business, but I have no clue how to do that. That's why I posted this thread.

OP I think maybe with respect you have the cart before the horse...

You need to find a country that will accept you and allow you to live and work there legally...

That is the first and essential step the rest will follow... or better still take the wise and learned advice of IamNRE

This would be the best advice for you. Sooner or later I will also travel the world.

You can also build a successful business there if your making that kind of numbers then help your fellow country men and give them some work, in that way you can automate your earnings and just travel around the world.

You are from EU I guess. With all due respect man, I think you don't you how lucky you are (unless you are from Greece ). Nothing beats residence in a developed country. Travelling the world and residing in a developed country are simply not comparable, and it's not that both can't be done at the same time. Anyway, I just want to stay in a western/developed country for the time being and enjoy what the developed world has to offer (while working on IM offcourse).

Also, am not a fan outsourcing. I prefer to take care of my own business. So, that suggestion will not work.

But thanks to everybody replying. Please keep the ideas/suggestions coming.

Again, only posted this on BHW because of the unique nature of our work. Immigration/Expat forum members don't have a clue what IM is, or have a very negative view. Even I will have a tough time explaining to any embassy officer what I do! [I don't know why the word "WISA" is triggering BHW moderation.]

If some girl from the country of your choice marries you, you may get the citizenship. I am not sure about all countries though. Or about marrying another man from another country if that also is desperately included in your limited choices...

With your attitude towards your home country, I doubt any decent girl from any country would even think of marrying you though. Because you'd soon get bored of her and her beloved country too... IMHO of course.

Sir, my point was that you should travel to different counties ... and see which one suites you the best and then when you find the right place settle there if you want.

And when you talk about the IM negative view, how do you actually represent yourself? You have to come off as real professional like web developer or website analyst, not a spammer.

Option 1: Get Married!!!
Option 2: Find a job which will provide you with the documents to legally stay in that country. Now since you are earning quite a nice income you can perhaps try getting a job that isn't that demanding and will keep you less busy only 10-15 hours per week(hopefully less). I don't know what exactly you are doing, but if it's something where you can work as a consultant then that would be your best bet I guess.

Also I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that you can go to UK and get a self-employment status or something like that. If I remember correctly that is also free, but if my memory serves me right it's quite possible that, that option is for EU citizens only.

Thanks for the web developer/website analyst suggestion. I am web master and I don't spam in any way. But in these days of wordpress where anybody can put up a website, it doesn't carry much weight. Source of income - good ole adsense and Amazon . I am not dependent on Google for my Amazon traffic, so my earnings won't suddenly disappear because of a Google Panda/Penguin etc.

It has been like that for a long time and it could take centuries until that changes. The least problematic society in this respect is the UK, because they don't expect every brown man to be a janitor or a cook. If you want to try out a country that does not run a two-tier society, where you can actually be fully accepted as a member of society, try the USA or Canada. With 500 bucks a day you probably have enough money to arrange a phony marriage. That's probably the best path to citizenship.

Interesting reply. Well, I have looked into USA. And my only way of getting in (apart from a phony marriage) is getting enrolled in a serious study program. With my academic background and profile, I will get scholarship from Top 30 - 60 US universities for their MBA programs and will have to pay approx $20,000. Do you think it will be a good investment? I will have to get a job after that and then get the employer sponsor me for H-1B. Am not sure whether to do this or not.

You are being really harsh with what you are saying. Now I admit there are few countries which don't accept foreigners that well(it's mainly countries with high standard of life), but most of the countries in EU aren't as judgemental as you make them out to be. I've had the chance to visit quite a few countries and I have to say that most countries are actually quite warm and welcoming to foreigners.

If you're so desperate then find a bodyshopper who can take money (a few lakhs) and arrange a H1-B for you. Those rasc@ls do exist... But that would be cheating 2 countries at the same time and their inter-relationship... so think before you use this choice, you will be very sorry soon when you conscience pokes you 24x7...

Sure they are that is called hospitality - getting to stay and work there permanently is a whole different ball game...

How do I know well I have lived and worked in over 20 different countries - so that gives me an idea what is going on...

When I say an idea I mean that as bureaucracy is very complex and self serving to the degree that one needs a near genius IQ to understand many a Government Form and as for filling it in - forget it 9 times out of 10 you have to pay a broker - and of course he tears the arse out of the money in your pocket...

Caveat Emptor - When traveling around the world expect the unexpected!
