what tool to check the backlinks?

majestic is too expensive, but it updates often and i am not even sure it has a duplicate domain remove.
backlinkwatch its okie as free tool, updates maybe one time per month, so not very good, but its free
ahrefs.com seems interesting but expensive
opensiteexplorer.org updates once per month, not good...

I think the best to explore payed are:

ibacklinkpro.com (starting from 9.99$ if it has a domain duplicate remover when checking the backlink, this is the best i believe)

backlinkwatch.com is best tool to check backlinks rapidly....

For being free this is the best tool. It takes a little time to load the backlinks and you have to content with that annoying pop-up but besides that it's ecellent.

Alternatively, you could simply try googling your site with the following search parameter:

http://www.google.com/search?q=site:yoursite.com

This will return links that Google has within their SERP's specific to your site.

Personally, I use Inspyder Backlink monitor, gives me a full view of my linkbuilding campaigns, and when links go dead, I know to stop building to them. Desktop based, manages multiple projects, tons of functionality, and a bunch of other bells and whistles.

Unfortunately, magic is not involved there - every backlink checking tool functions through search engine bots (spiders, crawlers) that wander around Internet and gather all the information about website's backlinks. As for my preferences I use backlinkwatch and moonsearch when I check websites other than my own and Google Webmaster Tools when I check mine.

I think that the backlinkwatch is a good tool.
As well as siteexplorer, it is a completely free tool, you can not spend money to check all the backlinks, I'm using it, very good!

Majestic SEO. Its Backlink History tool will help you know the number of detected backlinks for a certain domain or subdomain. It also shows the websites linking to your site, the anchor text being used, and the page and domain authority of the linking page and site.

All these tools don't update their DB very often. If you want to check/monitor your backlinks 24/7 then I'd recomend using Linkody. Getting email alerts when a link disapear allows to react quickly before search engine notice.

I must agree. Although, I've never tried anything other than ahrefs. It provides all that you need in a user friendly interface

Everyone has been mentioning, majesticseo, ahrefs, , Opensiteexplorer HOWEVER those are very limited, the last 2 only let you do 3 queries a day unless you want to keep using proxies or buy an account. MajesticSeo only shows limited links...again unless you want to pay.

The best for me, imho is going to alexa.com and searching for the site. After searching you will see "sites linking in" click on that and you can see where a lot of the backlinks are. It doesn't show all of them but a lot more than OpenSiteexplorer, MajesticSeo and Ahrefs.

THEN after I look at the backlink structure, I can get an pretty good idea what kind of backlinking they did and either I copy it or do it even better
