Google Authorship Authority Method

I had a couple of sites that would not show the Google authorship info alongside my listings. I made a few posts to my Plus page, bought some followers and the next day my picture was showing up. Looks like you need some real activity. I think google knew people were abusing this. On a side note, go Google something SEO related. Almost every listing will l have authorship related to it. It's actually kind of annoying.

Seems odd to me, as Google doesn't give you authority just because you have authorship set up, you have to have the process behind it to say this is who I am AND I'm an authority, Google readily promotes everyone setting up authorship with their G+ account, it can take sometime to show in the SERPS as it will only start showing up after a re-crawl, but if you use the rich snippets test tool you can always see if it is working.

So using someone else's rel=author who has authority online on your site would have no impact on the authority of your site?

That's right, rel=author only works (in Google) if that persons Google+ site also lists them as a "contributor to" it's a two way validation

Another Great example of becoming an expert in your field. There are so many different variations on how to do this.

I would not link any of my sites to anything that has to do with Google. You state that Authorship is good, I heard this years ago and how many people do you see ranking using authorship? None in my experience. The only positive thing that I have seen to do with authors, is I changed the author of some of my wordpress posts to the keyword of the post and all of the posts I changed moved up in serps.

Not sure, because it seems that I'm actually seeing more of this than before. For any niche you will see "authors" coming up on the 1st page. Definitely helps ctr, it helps separate your site from others in the SERP by a long shot.

Yes it would defiantly help with CTR, but to me it is just the kind of crap Google are trying to convince people to do instead of building links, because at the end of the day no matter what Google like to pretend, links still rank sites and always will. The same with Matt Cutts trying to pretend social signals are good, they are not good they are no follow, and in all my testing with social signal, on very easy to rank keywords, they have done absolutely nothing. Google likes people to believe that crap things work which do not work to try and pull people away from spamming. Spamming works better than ever now, due to all the hit sites. It is very easy to spam a website straight to the top with complete shit for highly competitive words, and the proof is all over the front page of Google.

I was going to try it with a authority site we are setting up now but not sure if i will or not...might skip it for now and watch for a few or try it on a site we don't have as much $$ in..

I think you've entirely missed the point that I outline in this method, the very key point that seperates this method from just being "Hey look I've set up Google Authorship". You are in fact building links, related authority links of value, and you are building them to your google profile. I never said this is an over night page 1 ranking method, what I said is this establishes solid authority.

Your claim that it is easier now than ever to spam to the front page is only partially right. Let's take the following example:

sUlQp

Highly searched keyword, for a popular show, in the SERP results there really isn't that much competition, apart from Wikipedia and a fan based Wikia the rest of the sites are mostly small time one of sites which a handful of backlinks. But there interesting thing is the top 3:

EGYKt

Let's take a closer look at the third link the "bleachepisodeguide.net" one:

yIEqk

As you can see this site has no content except for some titles and a picture of Taylor Swift (personally I think it's a great choice, she may be a psycho but she's a babe). The point here is that even on large scale keywords you CAN rank total crap, but the reason this ranks is because of it's backlinks. Open it up in ahrefs or another backlink analyzer, all of the backlinks are high PR in-content backlinks that pack a punch.

The reason I illustrate that you are partially correct is to outline how crucial the idea of "content oriented backlinking" is right now. There is nothing more powerful and when you drive your Google Authorship identity with content oriented backlinking you simply come out on top. I have no doubt that this rubbish site could beat the Wikipedia entry for first place if it were to have a set up and backlinked Google Authorship.

Think about it this way, Google's primary objective is to deliver quality content to it's end users without having an algorithm that can be manipulated. Sites like the Wall Street Journal are known content publishers, with a well established presence. Joe Smith's financial fun day blog is a brand new blog with very short entries. Both sites go out for a keyword and backlinks tell you that Joe Smith should be in first.

Needless to say this opens up a huge can of worms, where Google becomes at the scrutiny of their own algorithm in a fight for quality. Obviously it is to Google's benefit to establish Joe Smith's authority so that in the future they CAN give him the benefit of the doubt.

By increasing your CTR, and showing extra links of yours (http://searchengineland.com/google-confirms-hidden-benefit-of-authorship-134526) Google makes it worth while for you to set up your Authorship and go from there, but much like setting up your sites Meta-Keywords that is only half the battle. You have to take the time to backlink and grow the percieved authority of the account. It is not in the simple set up that you win, but rather in taking the next step that far to many people miss.

Thanks guys! Glad you found it helpful :) - I think I may put together a more detailed case study of this and post it here if people are interested?

If I link all my social profiles to google authorship as well as my website, does that allow me to use portions of a post I have on my blog to create a post on my facebook profile without getting penalized for duplicated content or so ?

Just curious, nice topic.

Great fucking post lance. Great fucking post

Yeah add your social pages to the contributor too section, this way in Google's eyes you aren't copying anything but just syndicating your posts. That's my two cents, I've got nothing to validate it but its the process I've used and I've never had any issue ranking my content

great post. Thanks for this. No wonder these guys are always ranking top 3 with their pictures next to the snippet. I wondered how the hell I could do that. Now I am going to straight dominate my keywords. And I wasn't even looking for this. Just happened to stumble upon it. I love the Internet and I love BHW! :beat4:

Good share with the community for people that haven't seen this method, OP forgot to mention this so called "my method" was published months back on a well know marketers blog that works in the IM niche, your even using the screen shots of the domain he owns as your example with the bleach episode guide. If your gonna rip methods from other IMers blogs and post them on forums and your own IM blog at least maybe pick someone not so well know.
