Just tired of link building and analyzing my eCommerce site and need some motivating words! Currently my site is < 12 months old and ranked in the top 70 for a keyword that is very competitive with over 200,000 exact match local search results. But its a little discouraging when its only making me 150-200 a month lol! Anyway this is my first attempt at major seo, what do you guys think?

I think $150 - $200 per month is very good actually.
Keep it up. If you are doing SEO project, I would work on 2 or 3 at a time.
This will reduce downtime and boredom because SEO is slow paced work.
You can always start to dabble in paid ads and CPA/Clickbank/etc.
You are doing well, don't give up and don't do anything foolish to jeapardize your ranking.
Also make sure you are getting traffic from other places then g00gle if possible.

Lots on this site would love to be making just $200 a month. Well done I say. Just keep at it and duplicate.... $200 times 10 is better....times 50 you can live off....

That's the downside of going after high competition without testing the waters first. If you want to stay motivated while ranking for a 200k exact searches/month, while working on that one keyword, work on some 1k exact per month keywords as well (longtails). You need to have a diversified anchor portfolio anyways, so why not rank for some of those LSIs you've been using along the way?
By doing this, you will be earning more every month, and it will budget your project until you hit page one for the main keyword.

+1 for this. One if my sites has just recently hit #1 for a keyword of approx. 33k searches a month, so I'm getting quite decent amount of visitors from that one alone, and now it's easier to start to push for the 200k keyword, my top target for this project. Currently ranking #7 for that. Knowing that your method for ranking works nicely, makes you work harder for the bigger fish.

This is actually what I have been thinking about. Ranking for a such a competitive keyword burns you out (no seeing big results). If for nothing more than motivation ranking for some less competitive keywords would be great. It just seems so daunting when I think about how many 10's of thousands of backlinks still need to be built lol... Anchor text diversity links to inner pages bla bla bla.. I've been at this for months. I seriously should have started targeting less competitive keywords at first.

My main competitors are sporting in excess of 500k do follow back links lol

There are so many wonderful services here on BHW, go and try them. You website will be there on the first page for atleast 10 keywords within 2 months and you will start makin vitamin M

I would gladly hire someone, my site is currently heavy on home page links without enough internal links or do follow links. That needs to rectified asap.. Also I am looking at targeting spain, canada, uk, turkey and brazil. (I ship world wide)
