[Penguin 3] Partially Successfuly Ongoing Recovery

Coming from a base of long term E-commerce site my input may not matter but just some food for thought, if you kept the onsite or on page content exactly 100% the same and just changed the urls with the redirects without adding additional links to that specific page could one concur that this may be a result of over deep linking to that page or perhaps just the ending url tag? Did you 301 redirect the old pages to the new ones?

Yes, I 301'd the old pages to the new ones.
I'm pretty sure the results wasn't over deep-linking to that page, but unfortunately I can't prove it without going into details about the site, which I'd rather not.
What I can tell you is that NOTHING changed other than the URL, and the breadcrumbs for that url on the posts in that category.

Well I know its still early but the one kw that came up in Google Canada went back down but I only track the top 40 results...Add to that my positions in Yahoo dropped 1 spot for 3 kw's LOL...I will keep it like this for about a week and see what happens. I also made NO other changes aside from permalinks.

Did you check the old URLs to see if they're redirected properly?

Glad to see your recovery mate! That is a really hard task to achieve.

By the way, this traffic is just for google and doesn't represent the overall traffic of the site.

Made a few more changes. Shifted the About Us etc. pages to the top menu from the left sidebar, the leftside was empty so added a calendar, and got rid of breadcrumbs.

Lets see if that makes any difference

Yeah, not a coincidence ;)

everything is going to the appropriate page, nothing has changed much, its been less than a week but no movement in big G yet. How long before you noticed the movement?

The same day.

Did your website get hit by penguin 3? Because my issue was exclusively implemented in penguin 3, as the website survived the two updates before that.

But like I said, penguin hit websites are only supposed to recover on penguin updates, so I can't make complete sense of this, since I DID start seeing traffic rise from google right after making the changes. Check the webmaster tools graph I posted above, the first impression spike is on the 26th.

I had tried many methods to recover from the penguin fever, Everything failed and i gave up the sites, I try this method once again and lets see how it works. . Thank you for the share. .

No this was an earlier penguin update I had just left the site alone and it was still rbinging in meager sales through bing/yahoo so figured I would give it a whirl...
