Hi guys, my name is Pontus and i have been working with SEO for about 5 years now. Recently more and more SEO people have been telling me that the old ways of reaching a great position on Google like blog comments, article links, directories and so on doesn't work any more. SEOmoz tells people to stop building links and instead start creating super great content that gets organic links and whatnot.

I am extremely confused cause I recently launched a website with only manual link building and got my Page-authority up to 47, which is kind of good. But at the same time people telling me to produce this super mega content to get backlinks, I mean WTF!?

And can you expect that Google will hit us with another panda or penguin update in the near future?

So what do you guys thing? Black or White?

A mix of white and black. I try to create my first tier manually with some automation and then 2nd and third-4th tier using tools. its all about appearing natural IMO. If you can appear normal and natural using tools then you have mastered SEO, i'd say :)

what I do is create first tier totally manual and then I use UD for the second tier, in this way I rank many keywords ;)

Both have some real idiotic statements and ridiculous shit to follow, as well good stuff to do. Best way is to create 5-10 sites and start to experiment with different tactics, then build more on what works. You will hear everything from spam still works, you will hear only whitehat works, test and see.

Seomoz= Licking Cutt's boots.
BHW= Bypassing and kicking cutt's with his own boots.

Jokes aside, you are in SEO for 5 year and you register here now?? Not to mention in 5 years you haven't tested anything to gain knowledge????

Lastly, Are you trolling?

Well, both are completely different and it depends on the niche you are into. If the niche is easy, you can simply use the whitehat seo techniques and get into number one position easily but if the niche is tough, you will have to focus and use both of them carefully. Mixing both of them will create some link juice for your site and will majorly improve your rankings.

seomoz = big source of misunderstanding info.

check the websites ranking for high search terms and see what they are doing. learn stuff by ur self and dont believe in shit sources that are built only (and I repeat, ONLY) to give what people like matt cutts wants - more retarted webmasters.

black hat seo is long term strategy? probably not, maybe or sometimes...wtv!!!

but i believe that even white hat isnt... or if it is truly and 100% white hat u probably need weeks to rank any small keywods.

u talk about writing content and thats good but guess what? u can do both? test it and u will find ur answer.

pick up 4-5 domains, do different shit in all of them and then report ur own answers. thats the only way to win this game :)

Thanks for the great answers, I think I will go grey!

A lot of people think that SEOMoz gurus always tell the truth. They can tell you good stuff but like many other things, you have to test yourself.
Don't be a sheep, test ! :)

Content and Links are both valuable, you need to do both of them.

If you have being doing SEO for 5 years why are you still listening to what other people tell you?

The best way is to incorporate it both. not to say its a grey hat but instead have a mix and a twist on both content and link building. Have an innovative way in approaching those two and always try to anticipate.

SEOMoz = Reports, reports, time, reports, etc. Shy to build links, fake SEO's handling old business websites that rank regardless.
BHW = Fuck all that noise, building links, getting the job done even with bad websites they start up.

Sacrilege!!! You can't ask that question here :D
The powers have spoken - Grey is right (though the shade of grey is still a point of discussion). All the best :)
