I used to give internet marketing leads to a business partner and his company had a conversion rate of 5-10% for a $3,000-$10,000 product in the internet marketing niche. I got 30% commission.
Are you supplying the leads or are they finding the people they're calling themselves?
To be safe, just tell them you will give them $X per lead. This way you will have not get a bill for $300 without any clients.
$5 per call seems like a lot. You could hire someone for $10 an hour and they should be able to make 10+ calls.
I'd be a little suspicious of $300 for the day. I'd prefer more of a per registration fee and not a straight daily fee. I;ve worked with a couple of telemarketing companies and most of them were hourly. I hired a guy for $15/hour for 20 hours a week and he was good.
The thing to keep in mind is that you may run at a loss for the presentation, but you should be converting a % to customers, so you should be making up the difference in sold customers.
could I suggest you try my method?
I have offshore Telesales agents call into the UK, the only list you ever need is the yellow pages.
95% of the time of telesales is getting a qualified buyer on the other end of the phone, time spent trying to get hold of someone who has the authority to make a purchase does not require a skilled sales person, this is the offshore job. once a qualified prospect is interested they are passed onto you, for the final close, or another salesperson who really knows how to sell. you can do all of this small scale on odesk, I suggest you also conduct an interview on skype to make sure the offshore caller has a good connection and their english is 100%, the best I have found so far are In South Africa
Ok'ish South Africans about 4USD per hour, good ones up to 10USD (includes all call costs) and then a really good UK telesales person would be 20/30 quid an hour, and if they are cheaper then they are most likely crap. A really good salesperson in the UK will not work for less than 200 per day, which is why you only want them to be doing the "money shot". with good leads they can sell all day long, - but if you want to try to do it on the cheap get the south africans to do everything including the selling, you could try it on odesk and ask for an audio of the calls, get 3 or 4 people to do a trial for an hour and it will only cost you 20 odd quid, pick the winner and get them to do the whole thingThat's not a bad idea, thanks. What do you pay for this out of interest?

Hi, calls are managed with a PBX on the suppliers end and I just get a log in for the duration of the job, when I was using odesk I had my own PBX.@crazyz
Quick question: how are the calls being managed?
By that I mean, are you using a virtual PBX?
