how come I never get people like that to do negative seo campaign on my site, shit, free backlinks I don't have to lift a finger wow.

havent you heard about the unnatural links warning that seomoz received because of a challenge by rand fishkin on another forum? Negative seo is surely possible. Unless, your site has the kind of authority that seomoz has to sustain it.

Am quiet aware of the unnatural links, and the challenge on seomoz, to be able to break the link profile, your anchor text has to overpower the brand links profile if not your just wasting your time doing negative seo.

As you said depends how highly your site authority is.

At the end of the day, its not OP's fault per se, google allowed negative seo, now every competitors who can't use their skills to out rank their competitors are now using the cheapest way to damage their competitors, I wouldn't do it, I prefer to do outrank my competitors without going through the extreme of damaging their site in the process.

I run an ecommerce site and I've spent an easy 2000+ hours doing work on it, if some script kiddie came along and decided to waste $10 and spam it with crap I'd be very pissed.

The reason why people are giving you a hard time is because even though this is a black hat forum, we spend a lot of time creating websites/content and doing SEO to try and rank on Google.

To the guy that said it is the same as ranking on Google doing blackhat techniques you are completely wrong. If spamming a site can harm someones rankings that is a lot worse than doing black hat on your own site and ranking higher. (Doing negative SEO gives them a chance to get hit by a Google update, and this is a massive difference for that reason alone)

Ok guys, you have run with the fantasy a bit withme destroyimg someones life etc.
Here is how it was:

I was #1 for this keyword for lets say 3 years now. Its a high authroiity site with lots of daily users, not a single black hat technique was used on it and the deisgn is pixel perfect.

In august my site was pushed to position #2 because some wordpress makeshift blog became the top one. It's just a standart MFA site with lots of ads above the fold and a lot of keyword stuffing at the bottom.

This is the case where no content quality etc will help you because your site is 1000 times better anyway. this was just a google bug. And what should I be doing? Wait and hope that another update fixes this?

As for the "he is now broke, his kids are starving" etc:
a) this keywrd didnt bring more money then like 20$ a day
b) its not like this site was #1 for some time and became his main business (it was #1 for just 2 months now)

Like others have said its Google's fault for allowing this to happen but someone black hatting you to the top (likely only for a short time) is different than actively seeking to harm him. If we are in a street race and you beat my Ferrari with your civic that has a supercharger and nitrous, I can live with that. But if you do something to my motor I will not be pleased. In this case its not a big money keyword but in others not so much.

The trick is to diversify. We are doing 6 figures a month in sales, we got hit with neg seo and still are doing 6 figures a month in sales but the difference is about $80k... On the flip side we learned a lot, added affiliates and been doing better with social media and Bing/Yahoo still brings us good traffic. At the end of the day if/when we recover we will be even stronger, our sales are already back to 90% of where they were and that is with all google rankings in the toilet...

BTW there are some crap sites in the top of Google that I would blast too just to get them off the first page. A bunch of dumb Squidoo sites, etc.

Now to ask a serious question. I've been talking to a client about reputation repair and this client had an employee just blast the company name with like scam, ripoff.....What would be the best way to Negative SEO the offending sites? 500k SB blast with the same keyword or with porn links? I've already talked to them about building additional sites to targeting these keywords and writing articles putting the company in a good light, but the owner is pissed and would like to destroy this ex-employee (NOT PERSONALLY) just have the false sites go away.

Any suggestions?
