Anyone think this update made EMD's stronger?

I've been tracking my EMD's very closely ever since the update rolled out. I'm seeing that my EMD's seem to have got a lot more powerful since the update.

I've got a few that are now ranking extremely well for the exact match phrase for which I build the EMD around and the primary kw in the EMD. For example my site is a EMD for www.greengloves.com well after the update I'm still number 1 for the phrase "green gloves" but now I'm ranking extremely well for the primary kw "gloves"

Because of this yesterday was my highest earning day ever.

Yes, there are tons that got wiped off the map with the update, but for those that didn't get wiped out seemed to have gained power and instead got pushed way up.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I sure hope that's not your real domain name and just an example. If it's real, edit it out of your post!

General, How often do you update your site with content? and how often do you add backlinks? thanks

I highly doubt it is. Anyway OP, no the update hasn't made mine stronger. It's still ranking exactly the same as it was before.

I believe you are confusing "my EMDs got stronger" with "my competitors above me got nerfed" :)

Maybe, but is there a difference between the two?

Yeah i would say so, for if they had indeed made EMDs stronger then we probably wouldn't have an 11 page thread full of angry webmasters!

I think it has made emd stronger. I am seeing more of them, now, than I have ever before. I am seeing real spammy emds, like get-1st-keyword-keyword-keyword.com.

When I first saw the serps after the update, the first thing that came to mind was Google rotated serps. Meaning, if you weren't a well established brand, they dumped you and replaced you with worse websites. Most of the websites that climbed shouldn't have survived Panda.

I noticed some big competitors get wiped with EMD but the websites were poor static pages with poor content.

Currently mine are ok and not moved at all... I add regular content and backlinks...

Lets be clear about one thing

Google did not target EMDs

Google targeted low quality EMDs

Finding out what that actually means is the challenge, but exact match domains are not the problem its exact match domain + a number of other signals.

Yes, you may have lost emd preference but your site maintained it's rankings due to whatever google targeted this time (content, on-site seo, backlinks, etc.). While on the other hand, your competitors dropped because of whatever google was targeting, which allowed you to move up in rankings.

However, if you did lose any emd preference, you might be vulnerable to an inner page of a large authority site outranking you in the future (seems to be the way google is heading).

I'm not saying that this is what happened, all I'm saying is that there is a difference between the two.

We get it, your sites all moved up and you're the best at SEO.

Can't wait when it's your turn to cry...

To be honest, not that often on either account.

Almost 50% of my sites were hit, other 50% are still ranking fine. All of these sites were built similarly and has similar backlink profile.

Looks like google just penalizing random websites.

Their was nothing "precise" about the EMD update. They just rolled it out and shot blindfolded. Consider yourself one of the lucky ones.

So doesn't it mean that, e.g. low quality EMDs of competitors for "gloves" dropped out, so General Lee moved up?

This update is really good for me. I'm updating my websites daily with unique content and I've hit the top 3 on almost al my websites on my most important keywords :).

This website boosted me so far forward that at first I thought it was a fluke with my ranking software. I honestly jumped multiple pages on my EMDs, some moving to the top 10 of results for a few days now, having previously been far down the ladder, and those on the second page trying to get to first ALL went to the first page. I have no idea why I benefitted so well from this, but it was pretty startling. I wonder if this will fade out or if this will be rolling through again and again?
