So I place my heavenorvegas.com domain up on a popular domain selling site and I just got an offer for $500. NOW, it's kind of hard to resist not accepting that BUT considering I posted it last night - should I wait to see if I get a better offer? Or is that fair enough for me just to take the offer?

I Think you should sell it...You may not get higher price for that..and if you are not having enough revenue from the site you should consider selling it..:)

Make sure you know the terms of the selling site (some have timelines, once an offer is made it is considered binding for x days, and after that can be dropped by either party). But 500 isn't bad. I'd wait until shortly before the deadline (if there is one) and then, if no other offers, sell it for that if I were you.

do a quick google search. if you can't find any reason that this phrase would be wanted then sell it ASAP because IMO the domain name is worth reg fee at best.

if you find something in google search (i.e. name of a new product, or something like this) than you can try to get more.

Or take a risk and try to wait or try to make the current bidder increase his amount :)

No... the domain is completely worthless so if someone offers you a stupid price like $500 you should take it and run. If the domain was valuable, then by all means you should counter, but in this case it's not the smart move.

This Tread brings up something maybe sone of ytou can shead enlighten me!
Recently being interested in securing domains that could at a later date make a little money with. So i joined GDaddy s auction site, I won the bid on an expiring domain I thought Gdaddy had the legal right to sell, they sold it I bought it, they deducted funds form my account. the sent emails confirming all the above,,Then they wanted to refund my payment and told me the domian owner renewed the domain..During the Auction, someone got interested in the name also, one other person, They drove the price up and then stopped. I asked Gdaddy about he sale and was told this is normal... I feel it is unethical even if they claim it is legal.. But they did tell me I could offer a domain for sale with them unless I owned it or had legal right to sell it..I would like some feedback, I am not trying to hijack this tread,, now that I reread it maybe it seems this way..If so speak up we can delete it and I can list it another way,, Thanks for your input feedback

UPDATE: GOT THE SELLER TO UP THE OFFER TO $800. HOW? I don't know it this helps anyone but I will share what I learned here and what happened.

The customer who is interested is a CLUB OWNER in Las Vegas. From what I gathered during our conversations he has money and it is not an issue (therefore I told him I was expecting $1,000 at the least). Thing is the name here goes perfectly with his niche and I figured that it's all about the right time and finding that one person who is looking for a creative name for their project. (The name also is similar to the famous movie Heaven or Las Vegas - there is also a popular song by that name)

A lot of people have a hard time figuring out names for their bands, businesses and such. So I think this was a case of someone with money looking for a name and something to get him pumped up and I guess that name I came up with was it.

NOW, I already accepted the offer (we agreed on $800). My plan is now to brainstorm creative catchy names for niches in potentially profitable markets and put them out there. YOU NEVER KNOW who's willing to buy out there, I guess creativity and timing (more like luck perhaps) are the name of the game here.

Hope this helps inspired someone and perhaps inspires another idea based on this for making money. Just thought I'd share in more detail for anyone trying to expand their thinking / ideas.

Don't know if it is mentioned on their TOS or not but it definitely doesn't sound right at all. And if I'm not mistaken, you have to pay to join the Auction Site - correct? Feels wrong.

Forgot to add... Imagine stumbling across at least 1 or 2 people a month just like that. It is pretty much an easy, non-time consuming, venue of extra income.

Dedicate a few hours researching the fastest growing markets at the moment, take some more time to come up with nice catchy names (study our pop culture history) and put them out there. Worth a try, in my opinion.

BTW, I am in no way an expert AT ALL. This is my first domain sold and I don't know the first thing about this kind of business, I just sold a domain I had lying around - no science behind it really. Just trying to find the explanation behind it all.
