I have a site with 2100 links that is being beaten by a site with 30 links. My content is better too.

My main competitor for a micro niche site is number 1 on google and the site has only 1, yes ONE backlink and it's a freaking nofollow from a shitty website that also has PR 0, my competitor's site is also PR 0, how is this even possible?
It has no facebook likes, no tweeter tweets and no google plus add's.

And on who is, it says the domain is 8 months old.

How is this possible?, witchcraft maybe? lol no but really.

Bro ...along with website you should also look at the On Page SEO factors such as Content quality , Meta tags etc...!!

Can't believe no one has said this but he is most likely building backlinks to a 301 domain that redirects to his website.

Well, a lot of things could be going on here, are those 30 backlinks from high PR websites?, most of the time those are way more valuable than hundreds of PR0 backlinks. But again, a buuuunch of things could be part of this.

Which I've obviously stated in the thread that I've actually done. And his onsite SEO sucks.

Thank you rody00, thanks to you I realized my competitor is using 301 redirect, to find out about this I used http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/ and if the site is using 301 redirect it will show up on the second row.

I had the same experience. Majesticseo would not pick up the 301 but opensiteexplorer would. So use more than one tool to check backlinks. see that the number of backlinks match
