What do you think it will worth?

A 5 article mns i'm looking to sell. All unique content.

1. Averages $2.6 a day, made $78.48 the last 30 days.
2. Traffic is from SEO, ranked 2nd for main keyword, and top 5 for 5+ longtails.
3. It is nearly two months old.

It's been a while since Thomas or I have had the time to check this thread so I'll try and go through the latest 10 or so valuation requests at once.

Once again - if your site doesn't make any money then odds are that it isn't worth anything. While you MAY get something from a targeted buyer (for instance someone who is operating in the same niche and wants the site only for link juice, or wants to funnel the traffic to their site) the price, in these cases, depends on your negotiation skills and on how much this particular buyer is willing to pay, so there's not much I (or anybody else) can help you with. As such, I haven't replied to any valuation requests that don't disclose revenue.

Great thread, deffinietly very helpful of you to share your experience. I need some cash towards one of my IM projects and I wanted to sell one of my sites that I haven't really worked on. I've never sold any sites before hence this would be very valuable information to me. If the site won't sell for something resonable then I would obviously rather keep it and work on it at a later date when I get the time to do so. The domain has been created in 2010 and wasn't really worked on until this year where in May it started making money.

Some information:

- 2 year old 3 letter .com
- Simple 10 page website
- Evergreen informational ClickBank affiliate product
- PR0
- SEOmoz Rank 1.76
- 14K unique visitors this year
- 6K last month
- 2.4K so far this month (fallen slighlty in search results)
- #5 for main keyword (this brings all of the traffic, used to be #2 but haven't been working on it)
- Outranked by two YouTube videos where one is only a month old, at #2 a competitor, at #1 wikihow.
- Site seems to convert really well and I think it's got a great potential for a sustainable income.
- Keyword gets 12K exact monthly US searches, additionally there are many more potentially good keywords
- $220 3 month average (19th May to 19th August)

I'd assume the site to be worth anywhere from $1200 to $2000. Flippa's new valuation tool gives the site a Flippa Rank 2 with a range between $160 - $2600. #2 Competitor is for some reason valued at $0 - $1200 with a Flippa Rank of 1.

Hopefully the site can sell for a resonable amount, otherwise I'll just keep it. Only thinking of selling it due to needing money.

Thanks for the help. :)

I would strongly suggest you to keep the site for at least a few more months and consider selling it only then. You may get a few k for it now but if the traffic is organic and the product converts then you will get a MUCH higher price with some more history behind the site. If you were to list it right now then you would lose the majority of buyers because they would think that the revenue is only due to "launch hype", and as such the multiple it would go for would be extremely low.

Traffic Statistics
- Unique visitors: 80k per month
- page views: 200k

Financials
$400 ad sense, $400 for special header links, $100 for buysellads
Requires - dedicated server: $80 per month

How old is the site and more importantly - for how long has the revenue been stable? Without knowing this it's impossible to value it.

Also - is the header links and buysellads income consistent (paid monthly) and are the agreements transferrale or not? If your answer to either of these two questions is 'no' then the multiple on this part of the revenue should be discounted.

Three Affiliate Website
- Made around 300-$400 a month (on three sites)
- 7 months old (But the sites just generate money just two months ago)
- Traffic from SE and some web 2.0
I want to sell all these websites.

What do you mean by affiliate websites? Are they generating revenue through a CPA network?
If so then they would probably end up going for around 10x monthly revenue, assuming that revenue has been stable for a while and that the sites don't require a lot of maintenance.

Android smartphone review site
500-800 UVs per day
Traffic from Google
Monetized using adsense, makes around $50 per month for me
only a few months old
no backlinks done, got visitors just through content

Do yourself a favour and give the site at least a few more months before you sell it. For a site that's 2 months old you're lucky to get 5x monthly revenue, however for a site that's 6 months old this figure will already be considerably higher.

I don't mean to hijack a thread - but didn't know where else to place this.

MeatHead, do you value domains? If so, any success on selling domains w/o sites on Flippa?

Meathead and I don't have a whole lot of experience with domains, however I can tell you that Flippa certainly isn't the right place for selling them. If you're looking for a "quick flip" (i.e. selling to resellers at a (heavily) discounted price) then you should list them on domainer forums, however if you want to sell them to an end user then you can list them on Sedo (be generous when it comes to buying upgrades as you're competing with tens of thousands of other listings!) or better but more time consuming - approach (or hire someone to approach) potential buyers directly.

An update, 2 months later:

Age: 5 to 6 months old now.
Alexa: ~500k global, ~100k US. Now: 338k global, 362k US.
Transactions: 285 Now: 698
Repeat Customers: 30 Not Sure.
Affiliates: ~20 Now: 31, still most don't bring sales.
Sales: $8,880.23 USD Now: $24,047.41 USD
Product Cost: $3,580 USD Now: $9,601.60 USD
Affiliates Pay: 63.80 USD Now: $512.67 USD
Revenue: $5,236.43 USD Now: $13,933 USD

First month, March, it really didn't go much. Taking out expenses for different advertising services I was trying:
April = $936.24 USD
May = $2,187.41 USD
June = $2,393.09 USD
July = $4,244.80 USD

August I've had payment processor issues and other headaches (not site related, paypal and CC's), so at about ~1600 in profit.

Edit: Bought your flippa guide, still going through it. If I could get 15 x my April - July average, I'd be one happy camper. Pretty much ready to move on to something that requires less time at the computer and figure this is selling high (as mentioned in the guide).

Sorry to hear about your payment processor issues. The problem you're now facing is that even though you may be able to explain it, your August figures make your site's revenue seem in decline. As such, you should definitely wait at least a few more months before you sell it, as then it will only be one slow month whereas right now many buyers will think that the revenue has slowed down and that's the reason why you're selling.

If you can get the revenue up to July levels and keep it there for a few months then you can easily aim to around $35-$40k.

Need you to explain the "traffic is driven by classfied ads" bit to be able to give you a valuation. Are you using any blackhat tactics? Are there any costs involved? How much time does it take to prepare these ads?

No costs involved and no black hat techniques. I post on CL, BP and Ebay/Kijiji. I use a free autoposter that is available to anyone and spins each post very effectively. Total set up time for the ads is maybe 30 min(one time) and is a push of button every morning after that.

If the traffic generation method is sustainable, the revenue has been stable for a while and the maintenance can be easily taught to the buyer then you'll probably end up getting somewhere between $3.5k-$5k for it based on the figures you've given.

Thanks for the tip in your sig about flippa - i have some good domains to sell so i think i'll go try it out.

hey fellas.

what u think of valuation offered by http://www.webstatsdomain.com ? my site is valued ~1500US$ over there, can i really sell it for that much? I would actually want a better bid..as i have worked many years on this record label site ..

My domain is 6 years and 5 months old, it is ranked 3,930,943 in the world (among the 30 million domains). This site is estimated worth $1,467USD. This site has a good Pagerank(3/10). It has 51 backlinks. It's good for seo website. Sonictantra.com has 15% seo score. Sonictantra.com is safe.

Making about 50$ a month from legal music downloads and selling music releases through different distros like itunes.

what do u think i can get for it?

i would agree to sell just the domain, not the content though as it copyright of artists

Don't believe automated valuation tools. Ever.

Over the years in business I'm yet to see an automated tool that would provide valuations that are even remotely similar to the actual market price. You're better off asking a fortune teller what you're going to get for your site.

In your case - assuming that a) the site has generated this $50 per month for at least half a year and b) there are no legal issues, you're probably looking at getting somewhere around $500-$1k for it depending on how much history it has and how it is monetised. This figure can become bigger if there's considerable (2 years+) history or if there's anything else in the package that has value (such as a list of registered members and their emails etc.).

Thanks Bryanon for your feedback. Yes all published content is legal in this site (and always has been), there are no member only areas, just music release blog, music assets (which we can't sell) and links to artists, shops that have our content, etc.

Where do you recommend to sell the domain without paying the seller site or portal anything upfront (this site is a classic example of me not having spent a dime on its development except some time (we even host it on weebly free version..), and i'd like to sell it off in a similar way to feel that i'm.. say.. 1337 :P

Just curious for now. Interest in a few months when the stats will be more solid

New meme site (1 month)
20k-40k UV per day constantly
No monetization (Rarely Adsense but with low CTR, so I chose not to put anything instead. Humor traffic is not really my thing regarding monetization)
Traffic coming from social medias, content, others (it's a meme site, so..)
Just made a FB page and it's growing fast. Same with Twitter (but not so fast as FB) Will def. reach +100k fans with FB in ~2 months, maybe faster

Sorry, I know that there isn't much information, but I'm just curious what would be its value since it's new and gets tons of traffic

If you're confident that you want to use a free solution then your best bet would be webmaster forums. That said, I would strongly suggest you to reconsider listing on Flippa as small sites that can actually show revenue (like yours) tend to go for a much better price there compared to free marketplaces.

If you would sell the site now then you'd get very little for it - likely a lot less than the value of the site is to you. With the site not being monetized your only buyers would be those looking to get a steal.

I'd definitely suggest you to keep the site for at least a few more months and definitely monetize it as there aren't many buyers out there who are willing to pay based on traffic alone, whereas a site that is already making money will appeal to a much wider audience.

I have 2 MNS sites.
Not ranked yet.
No money earning yet.
All EMD.
7 months old

How much are they worth?

Thanks

Not ranked yet.
No money earning yet.

you just answered your own question.
they are pretty much worth nothing at all man.
anyone can put up a quick MNS that is not ranked yet and earns no money.
if anyone can do it, then the value is very low. simple equation bro.
and, that lesson goes for many things in life and business, not just websites.

Hi!

Yes they are not ranked yet and not earning money. But they are EMDs with keywords > 10k search per month and CPC > 1$

There are sellers who sell new MNS with 35$+

Thanks

PS: I just want money by their domain (so 20$ for 2 of them)

If you're happy with a few bucks then you can go to DP, list them and see what you can get. But as EmpireQuality said above, something like this isn't worth anything above that.

bookmarked. Very useful stuff I shall be back to gain more knowledge.
Thanks meathead!

Hey Meathead.

I'm not sure if you consider adult websites or not. but I have an "alternative modeling website" I setup and i'm looking to get away from all adult related domains/websites. It's similar to godsgirls or suicidegirls. I currently don't have any model sites running currently though.

Creation Date: 19-jan-2007

I used minibb originally for the forum.. and then paid someone to setup the website around that.. the admin area is all controlled from the main domain.. but it's setup so each model has their own domain.. and they are all networked together through the main domain. from the admin area you can add in new model domains and add their photo and video sets.. and it uses verotel currently for the membership fee's. I talked to dwolla and they're fine with me using them as a payment processor. I could probably change it over to that before selling.

I ended up making around 2k in 6 months from the membership fee's from the first model site. never put up any ads or monetized it any further. Also I know 2k is low, but I never promoted it either.. it was just from her friends on social sites. The main model ended up getting in a custody battle so I just shut down the entire website and never really got it back up and running. I've sold her content back to her. I do have 2 other models that have submitted 1 photo set a piece.. so that can be included with the sale. 1 of the models is fairly new and wants her own site setup.. but I'm just not interested anymore. I have a photo release form and ids for the 2257 already for her as well.

I have a bunch of accounts on various sites to go along with the website.. modelmayhem, youtube, myspace, etc.

anyways.. I have no idea if you are even interesting in trying to flip an adult website like this.. but it's not hardcore, no penetration or anything like that.

if you can or know of someone you could put me in touch with.. it would be much appreciated if you could contact me via PM and i'll give you more details.

My new website is all about latest PC & Video Games around, Game Tips & Gamers Guides, Game Videos, Forum and twitter page built in with 30k followers with the newest Gamers Accessories. Heavily monetized Started last moth with just UV=50 Visitors=600 this month till today UV=1200 visitors=3000 views=15k hits=50k If i try to flip it how much would it worth.
