Zen19 - 40million in 10,000 Hours

Another poster commented on the mobile views thing, but they are presumably correct based on my experiences as well. Depending on the demographic during the late morning and afternoon is when I see a spike in mobile traffic due to people being at work and checking sites/emails on their mobile devices. Also, niches like moms age 18-mid 30's for example tend to have higher mobile view rates for me.

That said, in general I've noticed a decent gradual spike in mobile traffic across the board over the last few years (sign of the times).

P.S. I'll vote for this being a "Sticky" as well. Very nice logs, love the dedication. Been working on a large project myself and it certainly is inspiring to see others actually mapping out a REAL business plan and execution strategy. All the best!!!

Awesome thread Zen, I look forward to watching this one closely.

Just wondering if you write your own email campaigns or outsource that type of work?

I've spent today working on the optimizations to both the lander and the tracking system. I'm expecting these to be complete tomorrow, in time for the second email traffic test. The only real goal on the second test is to beat the original results by a reasonable margin. Its been my experience that making batches of small changes to campaigns, and closely monitoring the results leads to massive gains over time. I've seen it on one email campaign where adding a single additional word to the title reaped 20% higher earnings. I expect about three more weeks of this optimization cycle, however during this there will be many traffic tests, the results of which I'll post.

While I'm improving the overall system, my JV partners are prepping the next batch of 20 landing pages in a variety of alternate niches, they are also handling offer research and getting the system loaded with more favorable offers depending on the traffic type / niche. I expect new traffic types and landers to be live within the next two weeks.

I along with plenty of others I'm sure would be interested in hearing more about how your automating determining what offers to send to which leads after collecting them.

Btw you do know they already make ad serving software and stats trackers right? I realize you can just code your own but integrating may of saved you a bit of time.

I'll give more info on the offer matching process as I get further into the project, right now my focus is on getting the lead generation and tracking 100% perfect, and bringing alternate traffic on stream.

On the stats software, I have in the past used a variety of tracking tools. For this project though, I want total control over all data, and a single unified control system. I believe this will give more data than the traditional trackers, specifically the demographics associated with offer clicks and conversions.

Going to be doing this in house. Will probably do one of my long rambling posts on this just as soon as I have fact checked my opinions/methods.

Got up at 6am today, to finish the last alterations before the next mailing test run. Got them all done, so I can send today rather than tomorrow. The aim of today's mail is to boost the performance seen on the first test run, to verify that all tracking is working including the email pixel and post-backs, and to build the next set of updates based on the data that comes back.

About your mobile views:

Since people are on the go and have smartphones linked with their email accounts, it is a very common metric that i see when doing email blasts. i am sure you will see this a lot depending on the time of day when your email is viewed. So I would make sure you have a responsive site that will work on a wide range of mobile devices. Maybe even make that a nice polished landing page in itself ;)

Yeah agree 100%.

Todays mail is going out at 6am EST, so I will check what effect this has. Despite this though, a nice mobile version will be added reasonably soon.

Have you sorted all the email addresses by location yet? After that initial mailing you probably have some solid data to go by now if it's not completely random each time.

i know you have some stuff to tweak but the sooner you can start using your data to pinpoint blasts by location and demographic the better

The test mailings are using some old opt in data that I built up - they include name and location data, this is used in the email blast. Once these go through the new lander, I'm capturing 40-50 additional demographic data-points. These will be used later to match contacts to offers based on a scoring system, then they will get auto dripped saved template mails which will customize based on the user submitted data. This is probably 2-3 more update cycles away from being started.

IMO its best to get the foundation perfect before you scale anything including traffic, but thats just me.

But of course. An empire built without a logical foundation is doomed from the get go ;)

What percentage of mobile traffic submitted additional information earlier? I know 51% was mobile traffic and 6% submitted additional information, but what % of mobile traffic did that?

51% of that 6% - if that makes sense.

great thread.. subscribed to see all the updates.. Best of luck wouldn't be the perfect word as i am sure you'll reach your goal because the way you have started with a plan & process it will surely pay off.

Yes, it does.
51% of the total traffic was mobile.
6% of the total traffic submitted additional information.
Out of that 6%, 51% were mobile.
That's strangely funny.

I only believe and dream big, and failures along the way are the most useful data I could ever buy.

I like that! Somebody, many years from now, will quote that in his signature on an IM forum.

The modifications are turning up some great data which i'll share tomorrow when the clicks die down. The system has also started generating conversions via the lead generation sites - not much but enough considering its only the second version of a lander, and expected to account for 10ish% of revenue when everything is finished.

Tis a good day.

I wish i would be so productive as you :)

I do have 1 question.
Would this work as well as you do.

I send emails and in text i include my squeeze page.
Send out Emails -> Squeeze page (capture data, email+name) -> OTO or some other releated offer
