Home Page SEO Settings For Wordpress Blog

Hey Guys!

Lets say I have a website[Sniper Site] called " www greenlizards com " . I also have few categories on it like " green lizards food " , " green lizards habitats " etc..Now my main homepage is intended to rank for my root keyword " green lizards ", so which is better:

a) have a static homepage with one article based on the root keyword - creating a wordpress page and making it the home page from settings.
b) have a dynamic homepage page, featuring a number of my latest posts - normal wordpress blog settings...
c) have a " sticky " post based on the root keyword and latest posts after that from other categories

Alright guys, this is the issue. I use wordpress if that helps to get a better idea. Looking forward to hearing from you.

I have always had good success with the static homepage approach. It makes it more of a site than a blog. The other categories then appear on your menu (you can also add the usual things like About Us, etc.).

Me too.. I think that eliminates content duplication also.

Something I was wondering also. I just started a new website and at the moment the 'home' page is just a collection of new posts. The thing is if it's a static page and I'm not adding new posts then the website essentially never gets updated except when I add a new page (which won't be often) so that surely cannot be good in googles eyes? I always thought it was better to have a site that's updated frequently.

Is there a risk that continually posting articles to the home page can cause duplicate content issues? Most of my articles target the same keyword.

As for categories I doubt having keyword in each categorie to be a good idea. You would be better with having one main category "with main keyword" and than subcategories without.

Go to Appearance - Widgets
Activate recent posts this will display titles of the post. For small sumarry you need to play with code.

You see there is an option in WordPress to select a "Page" as a homepage and another "Page" as the blog page. The blog/site will be updated when you post a content. Only the homepage will remain unchanged.
