Ebook or Membership site?

Hi all, need some quick advice here

My niche is aimed towards women and men and its about weightloss. What I have is a squeeze page, but I wonder, do people really want to "download" an Ebook?

Would it be better to make them sign up for a "Life Time Membership" so they could log-in and see all the information in a private section on a website rather than letting them download an Ebook?

Because, if people download an Ebook, and they are in a different city the next day without their laptop, they cant access the content, right?

After doing a quick search on google, using the google keyword tool, it would seem to be that the monthly search for "weight loss ebooks" vs "weight loss forum" is 10 times in favor of "weight loss forum". Honestly, I was really not expecting that and so it totally changes how I was going to respond to your post.

(you should also consider my research not being very significant and you must see if this makes sense through more research on your own.)

Basically, you should continue your squeeze page, but do a test survey with those on your mailing list to see if they would have interest in a membership site.

In the membership site, create your baseline of content, BUT, continue to capture more leads and sell ebooks and memberships. The weight loss niche is large enough that you can probably structure it in such a way, that the membership site provides your basic guides and accountability, but then the premium content can come in the form of ebooks.

Totally up to you, but this is what I would do if I were you!

1. Create a Kindle ebook under a pen name, promote it via the usual methods (search for "kindle" on this forum).
2. Create a membership site that's totally disconnected from the book, and market it as a separate brand. If you have a good method, you'll be better off offering a recurring (monthly) membership.

The good thing about starting a membership site is that people can access it from anywhere, you could also end up charging a nominal monthly fee so people can access it. This way you'll be earning a recurring income every month.

Do both. Then sell your list of signups an eBook at a discounted price for a limited time. Then after you raise the rate, release your second eBook for a discount for all the people that purchased your first eBook.

I'd say do both as well. Maybe you can create a sales funnel. Start with offering the low end product (ebook) then upsell them to the membership site with updated content so you have recurring income as well

This is a great option and this simple piece of advice can be used in almost any eBook. The great thing about Kindle is that you don't have to do that much promoting compared to setting up a website for it or listing it online and then buying solo ads.

Diversity has always been key. Start with the kindle ebook. Books are special. Ebooks are really special. Especially when in promotion. Yes to kindle. you are visually video & Infographic (Things which can be easily shared). For some reason people like to share. Be observant in the forums and groups. #Group-Sharing #Pincommander

Also its best to cater to those who can and not those who can not

Just like a car salesman, he doest try to sell to those who cant afford, he markets to those who can afford..

So forget about the ones who may not get to your site daily..

Life time membership would certainly work far better from a marketing perspective. If you want to create something "bigger" however I'd suggest you to create an ebook first and validate if your idea works. If people intend on buying your book, then probably they'll want to buy subscription from your membership site!
