I'm new to email marketing and been doing some study and planning. I shortlisted 2 email software to be purchased - interspire & atomic email studio... Any mass mailers using both tools can give their opinion ? I'm more toward AES.

Interspire is quite ok and can send unlimited mails, but the service is quite crappy.

Yes you need to host them on your server and ideally using an SMTP service like smtp or socketlabs. The whole setup can be quite expensive and eventually not worth it of you sent too spammy emails, because even if you use a smtp server, you original DNS, domain name, and IP can get permanently black listed

all depend on volume. 2000 and 2000000 emails to inbox - big difference. How many can you send with 100% inbox rate?

im using live mail professional and i think its good but don't use inbuilt script. Too big limitations.

I set up a throwaway domain with a new host and use POMMO, it's open source and not supported anymore but it's a great mass mailer. I set up throttles that the host allows, and blast the emails out. If the host was to ban me, just set up a new domain with another host and blast away again.

All web hosts have different hourly/daily limits so make sure you check them out before your first campaign. Also, I usually go just under the limit just in case. I find that freezone (uk) have good limits, and aren't too strict!

Is there a good step by step guide anywhere for setting up a solid bulk mail solution. I'm new to this and I would like to setup my own platform where I can send mail to legit emails. Tried using mailchimp but they keep banning me because they don't allow my industry to use their services.

You can send around 100k emails per hour by using IEM with the combination of IEM-Engine by Interspire Mods and a email server.
