Scritty-I like alot of your posts...but gotta call you out on this one-
what does good content have to do with seo?
Link diversity, anchors etc..now THAT makes sense. Google machines cannot determine GOOD content...just uniqueness.
UNiqueness is just the start of it. You might get "Unique and nothing else" indexed, but if you want to rank you need to go a lot further than that these days.
Google algo doesn't just check uniqueness though, it checks word density and since 2011 Panda it's widely beleived to check context.
In other words if an article seems to be on a particular topic, there are words and phrases it would expect to be included. It's quite subtle, not every word need to be included in every article, but if none of the expected words are in there, it registers it as spam or none contextual
So if you wrote an article about "Dog Training"
It might expect to see the words "puppy", "bitch", "kennel" "lead" "leash" "sit" "obedience" etc.
None or too few of these context words and Google will assume the written work lacks context..Too many of course and your over optimizing. It's a thin line.
Then it does a dictionary check. Supposed to be English? If it can't understand more than a certain percantage of words...again it's marked down.
It checks stuff even down to the average length of characters per word. Check out PartyNeons post from about a month ago. Shows how detailed Google checks your articles without ever understanding them it learns a lot more than people realise.

With these (and other checks) Google doesn't "know" anything. It doesn't actually analyse your prose, but it has a shrewd idea whether your writing bollocks or not.
Quality content isn't just about uniqueness, it needs to be consistent in language, contextual, no words overused, have expected average word length and other criteria.
Wish it was just about uniqueness, then we could just stick a tape recored on in the living room at tea time, and "speech to text" the family conversation and turn it into 20 articles every day.
Google doesn't make life that simple.
