Hi,

I'm in the process of starting a Private Blog Network (about 10 sites) but I was wondering how I can track the visitors for all those sites without using Google Analytics or any other service that uses a "footprint".

I've looked at Piwik and Open Web Analytics but they seem to use tracking codes so I was wondering it they left a footprint somehow to link all the sites together.

I could always just install Jetpack on Wordpress to get the data but then I would need to login each website separately.

Any ideas on what's the best way to achieve this?

Thanks a lot.

Thanks James, I think that's exactly what I was looking for. I'll try that.

That's awesome! Thanks, can't believe I did not know piwik (not that I am special or anything). No more GoogleA for me.

Piwik is great and if you want better tracking without footprints - you should get your own tracking script.

Hi,

IF BHW will ever let me post that would be great. Every time I try to post it takes me to the "checking website" Cloudflare page. Driving me nuts.

Anyway what I wanted to say. Using Piwik is something I am planning on trying. However using it on all of your sites seems sketchy... I mean how many website really use this? I don't know if that is taking paranoia to an entirely new level, but you could try to split it up with other free services. Clicky comes to mind.

Just a suggestion.

It's DDoS protection, I think it's stopped now.

I would suggest any tool which doesn't ask for custom code to be embedded in visible HTML source. Also, avoid 3rd party services as google will notice that the website is loading the specific 3rd party data.
I would go with Piwik.

I know this is an old thread, but if someone finds it like I did when searching on how to track stats on a PRB, I thought I would give my advice.

I was originally going to use Piwik and one or two other free/open source programs if I found them (for diversity), but instead I found 2 plugins that will suffice: WassUp Realtime Analytics and WP SlimStat. Since I try to diversify my plugins on my PBN properties, I use different plugins for the same tasks on each site. I figure using a plugin was a better way to decrease any footprint. Also, since it is a PBN, I don't think I need robust stats. I am more interested in to see whether anyone is finding the sites and how many people.

Track visitors without Google analytics I suggest you hitstat, statcounter is the best free services on web

Good luck dear ;)

i use goingup service. you can google for it and also email them for beta access to pbn tools.
